Hello everyone!

I wanted to know if anyone's honey has problems recieving mail from them? My honey says that he doesn't recieve mail from me every day (like he should, cause I send it everyday). He told me that the "mail person" told him something like "I'm tired of coming to your cell everyday" so they are gonna let the mail "pile up". I don't write to him every day for him to recieve the mail every other day. I want him to feel special and loved. I also want him to know what is going on at home , so I write constantly. I asked him if he was the only one who recieves mail everyday and he said yes. He told me he doesn't get upset about it cause that's what they want him to do and because he knows the mail is there. I also have problems sending him cards, every time I send them I get them back. They say they are contraband! But I know that he has recived cards before. We don't get to talk on the phone often and I can only see him once a month.

I just had to vent and wanted to know if I am the only one having this problem. Thanks for reading!

It depends on the mailroom personnel in the prison. Most likely, if one person takes the day off, no one replaces them - so not all the mail gets sorted. Often I think if they don't finish up today.......tomorrow's gets dumped on top.

What kind of cards are you sending that are getting rejected? The prison he's in must have some rules regarding cards.......call the mail room and ask.

I understand that you want him to feel special and loved......but you have to remember......the DOC doesn't CARE if he gets his mail timely. It plagues us all!

Jerry told me he cometimes goes for several days without a letter, but I am also mailing him one every day hoping he would get one every day. I also get letters from him 2 or 3 at a time , but he writes and mails everyday.

Go figure :(

Same here, its sporadic. Hopefully if they're really playing games with him, they'll get bored with it. It just isn't their priority.

Bro gets bunches at a time too, and some times older mail arrives after newer mail. It takes from about 5 days to 2 weeks to get to him, and his only takes 2 days to get to me.

You mentioned that he was the only one that was receiving mail everyday. I know that in some places, this is frowned upon because it makes people jealous. I would probably include the mailroom personnel in that because they don't want the inmates to have family contact, which sucks!! Why don't you try doing what I do. I save up like 3 letters and then fold them in half and use one of those manila envelopes, not the big ones, the 8 & 1/2 X 5 & 1/2 size ones. That way he still gets all the letters, but only like 2 or 3 envelopes a week. It might help in him getting the mail better. Just an idea:) I would also call up there and find out about the cards. I know that some Prisons do not allow cards. I would find out for sure though and get the name of the person that you ask just for future reference. I used to get tons of letters back because they said they smelled like cigarette smoke. I was so pissed because I had been sending them the whole 18 months that he was in, and it was only at the end of his sentence that this started happening. (They used to call my husband "mailman" even the C.O.'s lol) I took the all letters (over 100) up there at visitation and showed it to the Warden on duty and he said that it was ridiculous and he personally handed them to my husband without even looking at what was inside. He also went to the mailroom and found out who it was that was doing it, and let me know that it was taken care of. It never happened again:) Just hang in there and maybe try what I do as I said above. Good luck and keep us posted on how things are going:)

Thanks to all for your support!

Mrs. D you are right, the DOC doesn't care if he get's mail or not. Also, BillysAngel, thenks for the suggestion. I will start sending the letters in bigger envelopes and 2 - 3 times a week! And I'm gonna call tomorrow and see why he can't recieve my cards. Thanks again!

My fiancee has been in tracy dvi since April 22, 2003, I write everyday plus cards toal of over 20 pieces of mail and he has written 5 times all his letters rec'd in a couple of days to me and his last letter asking why I do not write, so I am so ready to call the prison because this is a big SUCK!!!!!!!!! I am very careful about what I send and say so I hope they do not get rejected. Al my letters are numbered and saved in my computer so when he finally does receive them or not I will resend and resend until ALL have been seen by him!!!!!
This is a real issue with me already.

Trey always got my mail daily - except for Sundays - and they would only take 1-2 days to get there, no matter what WI prison they would be in. I'd get his mail right away, too. Except that I had to put his last name on my mailbox cause he'd always address my letters to my first name and his last name! :) I guess I was lucky!

Hi Taenas,
we deal with mail continuously...sometimes I feel like going crazy!!!!We are so far away and the only way we can communicate is by our letters...I spend my mornings waiting for the postman ...and sometimes I stay for many weeks witout hearing from him, then maybe I receive many letters all together...the same is for him! Right now I'm very very anxious to hear from him...I'm trying to be strong, but it's not easy...I wish I could be a little closer to him so that I could see him at least sometimes....

I WRITE MY MAN EVERY DAY, BUT HE DOES NOT GET HIS MAIL EVERY DAY. SOMETIMES HE GETS THEM ALL AT ONCE OR HE MAY GET ONLY ONE LETTER IN ONE WEEK. HE KNOWS I WRITE EVERY DAY. AS FOR CARDS IF THEY HAVE ANY KIND OF GLITTER ON THEM OR ANY KIND OF DECORATIONS THEY MAY NOT ACCEPT THEM. I SENT ONE WITH A RIBBON ON IT AND HE GOT IT. IT DEPENDS ON THE MAILROOM, HE GOT A LETTER YESTERDAY FROM ME THAT I WROTE IN APRIL. HIS MAIL GETS TO ME IN 2-3 DAYS. DEPENDING ON WHEN HE MAILS IT. HE HAS NOT BEEN WRITTING MUCH LATELY BECAUSE WE TALK ALMOST EVERY DAY ON THE PHONE. BUT HE DRAWS AND SENDS ME ALOT OF DRAWINGS AND CARDS THAT HE MAKES HIMSELF AND THOSE ARE EVEN MORE SPECIAL.

I finally found out what the problem is this time. (There's always a problem-they get on my nerves! ) Well I was not writing my first name in the return address, I was only writing my last name. But, I've been doing this for the past year! If they have new mail regulations they should have told us what were. (It would have been nice.)
