View Full Version : Is anything going on at High Desert? LeBeau 08-30-2005, 07:41 AM Lockdown, modified programs, etc? I was expecting a call last week and it never came, so I was wondering if anyone has heard anything that could explain it...besides that he's slightly flakey:rolleyes: . taffy50 08-30-2005, 09:32 AM my hubby told me that there was lockdown in the main line last week, because they were making more reception beds on yard a.he is a lead man so he hears everything. kg4ujg 08-30-2005, 09:55 AM I got a letter from my friend dated the 18th that said C Yard is out of lockdown. Ry*sgrl 09-03-2005, 11:33 PM As far as I know they are still locked down. Aren't they changing their program to every other week lock down?? 1000miles 09-04-2005, 12:59 AM My hubby called last week and said that they are on modified program. (C-yard) He said that he wasn't sure when he'd be able to call again because the program is all screwed up. He hasn't called since. :( kg4ujg 09-04-2005, 04:46 AM :( well, now I'm confused. My friend said they were out of lock down but didn't say anything about modified program. LeBeau 09-04-2005, 10:11 PM As I understand it, every 3rd day is a "Lockdown day", and there is a rumour (nothing official or confirmed) going around that the routine may soon change to lockdown for a week at a time, one week per month.....all this is apparently in an effort to overcome staffing stortages, and based on info from other sources, I tend to believe that they really are short handed. elainewang 09-05-2005, 12:50 AM This is an email which I recieved from a friend about HDSP. Over the last week it appears High Desert has instituted another new and punitive practice! They are now doing what they call 'rolling lockdowns'. Every third day inmates are locked down. This, of course, is in additon to when there is no program due to CO training??, movement on the yard, etc. The reason stated is lack of staff. I'm sure they are using the old 'safety and security' blah, blah. Does this mean that if staff numbers actually decline our loved ones will be locked down permanently for CDCR to manage its personnel issue? Every time we think it can't get worse, High Desert comes up with something new and degenerating. The inmates need to 602 this practice, the families need to write and complain and, hopefully, whoever is looking at the lockdown issues at High Desert and elsewhere will include this latest development in their review. |
