So Far so good here outside of Oneonta on Chandler Mountain..just beginning to get the windy blast and rainfall..have heard 2 large limbs fall out of tree behind us...sure hope thats all the falls..dead braches and not waterlogged trees...LOL

If I have power in the morning I will be sure to check in as soon as I can

Alabama family's are a tough breed and we can "outlast, outwit and out survive" (Hummmmm that sure sound familiar to me for some reason)a alot of things inlcuding a little' ole Hurricane......
Takecare in East AL seems you all are getting the brunt of the badns closets to the eye of Katrina. Prayers going your way for one and all!

I am checking in here...we made it thru the hurricane...lots of wind...no trees down at my house...there are some down up the road. We only lost power for a few minutes last night.

It got pretty nasty up here in Memphis but everything's OK. It was bad all night but really revved up around 2 a.m. and I think the worst hit around 4. I've got a lot of limbs down and part of the streetlight across the street is hanging but that's about it for the immediate area, other than there are a lot of power outages (including my employer). I never lost power tho, for a nice change of pace! :)

I missed the call but B. called around noonish from central Alabama so I know the phones are probably working all over 'cos usually if the south Alabama facility phones are out they're all out throughout the state...

Hope everyone else made it thru with no big problems and safe!

Hope everyone is okay...

We didn't lose power but for the spure of the moment outages...lasting from 2 minutes-5 minutes each...thank goodness! I was really expecting to lose it...since we lost it for like 2 or 3 days w/Ivan...and we all know Katrina was worse than Ivan... But, anyway...glad u are all safe & sound....

Glad to see everyone has made it thru from Katrina. I am devestated at what is happening in New Orleans and the coastal towns between there and Mobile..It is so unblieveable watching people being cut out of their attics and rescued from trees not to mention people stranded on interstate overpass because they cant get thru the water. I pray for all those families who couldnt leave and pray that they have made it thru this, but I know in my heart that more deaths will climb as the days and weeks go by.

My dad is on his way home from Wyoming so, he hasn't seen actual pictures of what has happened in New Orleans, Gulfport, Biloxi, etc...so, he makes me watch it and tell him what's going on...it KILLS me to watch it...this is definitely a disaster...and my thoughts & prayers are with all of those people...and their families...

Glad to FINALLY hear from you, Marj! I was gonna be *mean* and say that Univ. of Alabama has always been a mess...but, I won't go there...oops...guess I just did! :p I love ya though, girl!

Such a sweet thing to Say Mamicita...we do apreciate your prays and hope that your loved ones are okay and we here in the AL group I know send prayers each and every day to those that are a part of the awful tradgedy that has befallen all of us. We as a nation must come together and open our hearts to those who have lost everything and pray for those souls who had no means to escape( I hear so many say what fools to have stayed) Many that stayed as we see just in the superdome they had no way of going so pray that when they get out someone somewhere will open their hearts and share what they can give and spare.

I listened to a report with a football player who is from NOrleans talking the reporter who are mutual friends and he made a profound statement that made me think. Many of us may not have $ to send for help and we all well know it takes time and red tape to spread the $ out. He made a plea for everyone to contact their Salvation Army and Red Cross in their local cities and find out if they were making trips to the affected areas...then donate clothing bedding, canned food and water and diapers, hygene products that can be given directly to those who need these things NOW.

Okay Girls lets dig in our cabinets and our closet and get those out of style clothes and outgrown kids clothes and go to your cabinet and put together a meal for one family and take it to your local donation place! I promise you it will make your heart glow with joy and send tears down the recepient checks knowing someone out there cares beside the government!

I've volunteered to go down there (not New Orleans...but, Gulfport or Biloxi)...I've received one call about it...and I'm "waiting" on another one. I honestly hope I get to go to help some of those people...I would want someone to do the same for me. :)

Rags...BE CAREFUL, woman!!!! Keep us posted on when you get back...okay? (((huggs)))

Im home, and I dont want to start a political debate on this.....but is it really Bush's fault that an act of God did this? folks know the risk involved of living in any area, flood zones, tornado alley, coast lines, etc. Its bad down there, by all means its the worst Ive seen to date. But instead of hammering down one man, we should pray for him and the decisions he makes....I dont think most realize the worst is yet to come from this. they see with their eyes and thats where it ends, if they see with logic, its going to be hard to make alot of the towns rebirth....all heritage pretty much lost except for whats in their hearts and minds and its not a pretty site.
