I'm writing out of disgust and frustration concerning an on-going situation at New Folsom . . .
My boyfriend has been on lockdown at CSP-Sacramento since the beginning of April, and I'd like to know why!? According to a June 8th memo from the B-facility captain, "credible information was received that indicated White inmates were planning a stabbing assault on B-facility staff. Based on this information, all Level IV White inmates housed in B-facility are on lockdown pending an assessment of the threat."
All White inmates have been searched and interviewed, several of them have been transferred, and the investigation was concluded. So why are the remaining White inmates on B-yard still being punished?! Their privileges have been restricted for the past five months, and they have been treated very poorly the entire time. As of August 22nd, my boyfriend still hadn't seen the summer sun or been able to get any exercise at yard. Non-contact visits and canteen privileges were just re-established, but there has been no mention of when they'll get back to their normal program.
I call the CDC visitor information line almost every morning, in hopes of getting some good news about the current situation in B-facility at New Folsom, but the message has remained the same for the past five months! And now, according to this morning's recording, all Southern Hispanic and Black inmates in blocks 1-8 in B-facility are also on lockdown!
This is getting ridiculous! Why can't the prison facilitate a proper program for these guys instead of just locking them in their cells indefinitely?! It's not healthy for them -- emotionally or physically! My boyfriend's lost a lot of weight since the lockdown started in April, and hasn't been able to get much exercise due to being confined to his cell for so long. Prison officials have talked about giving them some sort of yard activity, but it just hasn't occured. My sweetie's depressed and sleeps a lot . . . I'm sad that I haven't been able to hear his voice for five months . . . and the prison seems to be oblivious to the situation that B-facility is in!?
Does anyone have any suggestions on what can be done?! I'm at a loss . . . but I can't give up trying! I'd appreciate any input you might have . . . and as always, thanks for listening to me vent! :angry:
