Well, I just received a letter from my husband today that he is on his way to Avenal. He mailed the letter out Thursday and he told me they were moving him on Friday (yesterday). He didn't even get either of his choices which were CRC Norco and Chuckawalla. I knew from reading the threads that they were going to send him wherever so we didn't get our hopes up. I am disabled and even with the documentation in his file from the spine surgeon it didn't mean a darn thing. His counselor at R.J. Donovan told him that they are only giving hardships to those who are terminal not disabled. On top of it all, they denied me visitation because they said I have an arrest record which I don't. I sent in a certified letter of appeal to the Warden at RJ Donovan on August 2nd with documentation and asking him what arrest record they are talking about and to give me details and I still have not heard a thing. I guess it doesn't matter since they moved my husband. I talked to the Ombudsman about all this and followed his advice but we still got screwed in the end regardless. Sorry - just venting...I guess it's time to go research Avenal. Thanks to all of you who have replied and given me advice and guidance! This site has helped me deal with all the drama and to have absolutely no expectations about having my husband close to our family or even possibly ever seeing him again even though my record is crystal clear...I don't even have a parking ticket and yet I am being denied visitation for whatever reason...the frustrating thing here is that if I knew specifically why I got denied i.e. you say I have an arrest record and I don't so what are you talking about... then I could do something about it but I guess I'll just keep getting denied every time I apply every 6 months...

You can contact the Dept of Justice and request a copy of your record.

How far do you live? I read that if you live over 250 miles away they will let you visit at least every 30 days without the form. Does any one else know anything about this?

I haven't heard of this-I thought all visitors have to be approved. I know if you travel over 250 miles one way, once every 90 days they cannot terminate your visit, but they can terminate your visit if you go more often then every 90 days.
