As I stand here today in front of you…all I can say to you is that we are both victims you are the victim more so then me but I am also a victim…I stand here a different man then I once was a man that can sincerely tell you that I am sorry for your loss I will never be able to bring your son back and I will never be able to say any amount of words that will comfort you but I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me even though I did no wrong… I have a son of my own and I cannot even begin to imagine the pain you have felt these last years but I did not harm your son I am a innocent man doing someone else’s time but that is ok with me because at least you may be able to feel that justice has been served when really it has not…I will never be able to change what has happened in the past I will never be able to bring Jarret back and I will also not ever be able to live the last years of my life either but I can try and change what happens in the future hate should not prevail over forgiveness for there is to much hate in this world already…Every step you take, is a step away from where you used to be.. And where I used to be and where I am today are completely different places but when someone does not commit a crime and they are serving the time for someone else that does not make the world any better and it does not serve justice where justice is due.

And to my supports…

I would like to thank my family, my lawyer and everyone else who has stood beside me and believed in my innocence all along you are the people that have made me continue to fight what at times seemed like a losing battle. “If you ever get a second chance in life, you've got to go all the way” is what a friend once told me and that is exactly what I am going to do I am going to be the person I have always wanted to be but I was always to scared to do so. And last but not least I want to thank the justice system for giving me the opportunity to have another chance at life. And with that I would like to thank you your honor for taking the time to reconsider the sentence I was given not to long ago. This is all I have to say your honor…Thank You.

I think it sounds wonderful. I also know my honey got hammered at sentencing for having the "audacity" to maintain his innocence. But he wasn't gonna lie and say he was apologizing for something he didn't do. Good luck. Be prepared for their total scoffing, though. They believe that once they have a verdict, you're toast.
