I have a question actually two questions. 1. Why does it take so long for my son who is at centinela in california to receive my letters. It has taken up to three weeks for a simple letter with no pictures or anything once it reached the mail room. 2. His packages have the same problems. The packages that i put together from their approved vendors takes one week to get to the facility mailroom and almost two months to get to him. His last package was ordered two months ago and he still hasn't received it yet. He knows it is in the mailroom, everyone's got their little eyes and ears. Is there a regulation or something about taking that long for an inmates mail to actually given to him once it is in the mailroom?

Hi!! you can call the mail room and ask about mail. Also R & R about his package. I know it takes along time on packages but 2 months is too long. My son's took about a month at CSATF. Sometimes the Vendor says something shipped and it is 4 days later, happened to me. My letters to my son take a while, his to me 3-4 days. I date every letter and ask my son to let me know what letters he received and the date he received them. Make some phone calls. Also if there is a LD they probally search the mail a little better. I hope this helps. good Luck.

I don't know why the mail room gets backed up, but they all do. My hubby usually gets my stuff within a week, but last week he got three letters from the middle of July! I'd definetly call R&R about the package, 8 weeks is too long for processing, unless they have some really pressing reason, like the whole staff caught a contagious disease or something!! Depending on your vendor, that can be part of the problem. I had Inmate Quarterly Packages send me an email 18 days after I placed an order that there was a problem. I would have expected it to in his hands almost by then. I love Packages R Us .com. Very fast, very accurate.

It shouldn't take that long , and hopefully you keep copie of the list on the stuff you send. My honey is in CSATF and I would send him a letter with the list on what I got him, due to that fact it has been known that inmate help in the recieving and take things out..............

I also send a print out of what I have ordered to my son. He at least know what is coming and can check off of that.

I think the mailrooms get back up a lot. I know Jamie went for like a week and a half without getting anything from me. Then one day he got like 8 letters. Hopefully it will even out and things will get back to normal. I would definately call the mail room.

My honey is in Corcoran1 and the mail room lags so much! It takes forever for him to get my letters, but we have learned to deal with it! I just sent him a package though and it only took 2 1/2 weeks to get to him! I was surprised!

The mail is currently behind at this moment due to the lock down. My man is in building D and has been on lock down for a while know. What I do know is that he has been getting my mail between 3-6 weeks.

My son has been at San Quentin Reception and is now at Old Folsom and the mail problem is the same. 3 to 4 weeks to receive mail sent to him but 2 - 3 days to receive mail from him. My guess for the difference is that all mail coming into the prison is opened and reviewed before distributing to the inmate. I don't think mail going out is reviewed so we receive it quickly. Just send lots of mail and it kind of evens out. He will get mail often, just not that current!:) Be sure and call the mail room to get the specific things that are not allowed. I send a letter with a post it note and the entire letter was sent back!!
Regarding quarterly packages. I have used Access Catalog (Access Securepak) and have had great results. I call up and place an order rather than via the internet so I know instantly if anything is out of stock. I then ask them to send me a copy via email of the order. Since it is coming from out of state (Nevada) it has no sales tax and seems to get to the prison in a couple of days. I call back and request that they send me the delivery information so I know exactly when it was received by R&R. It even shows who signed for the package. I then send the list of items in order and delivery information to my son. Armed with that information, he can asked about package and seems to get it easier. His prison has just come off a 3 month lockdown. His 2nd Qtr package arrived 2 weeks before the Lockdown so that package didn't get to him until 3-1/2 months later!!! All of the other suggestions prior posts have stated are great. Do any and all things you can do to help get future packages to be delivered as soon as possible.
Good Luck:) ~~ Charme
