they are both government offices so I can not see how one would not tell the other,, you raise a real concern.. but I would suggest the media but be careful as this can hurt your man .. it is a shame.. my guy is in tucson too but a different unit..
I will talk to him about the cleaniness

Have you tried calling the local Health Department and just asking them what their policy is on the kitchens at the prisons, maybe see how often they actually go out there and do inspections and so forth and if you can possibly put in a complaint?

May be worth a try!

I don't believe he caught it in the kitchen, staph infection is rampant on many Tucson yards. It comes from touching bedding, clothing, skin, or a place where an infected person has touched. Just tell him keep clean and use what has been given him to clear it up.

Like I am Limey said, they can catch it anywhere. I think you should contact the health department too, but im not sure they will care, since it has to do with DOC after all... :blah: doesnt hurt to call though. here is the info from their website:

Arizona Department of Health Services:
150 North 18th Avenue
Phoenix, Arizona 85007
General and Public Information: (602) 542-1000; Fax: (602) 542-0883

hope this helps. ;) ~Aimee

I just got a letter from my friend in Florence Central and he has it real bad and it is not responding to the antibiotics. I'm kind of worried about him. It sounds serious. Also, dumb question, but can I catch it by handling his letter and envelope? How long does that stuff stay alive on a surface?

My man is in florence but not that unit. But that still concerns me. I think she should call that health department and see what they say and do and stay updated on it that was my mistake I should have been more persistent with situation but deputy warden assured me he would take care of it.
