I Just Got Done Serving Two Days In The Millard County Jail In Utah.........they Are Allowed To Buy Calling Cards $5 For 10 Minutes........are The Prisoners Allowed To Buy Such Things In The Az Prisons?if Not Does Any One Know If There Is Any Thing Being Done About This?i Cant Get Collect Calls On My Phone So Calling Cards Would Be Awesome ..........thanks

I know when Jamie was at a county ran prison camp we bought him calling cards from Wal-Mart. I even bought some off of the internet that were cheaper than Wal-Mart.

Hi, sorry to hear that you had to serve time. :( No, Az prisons don't allow calling cards, unfortunately. All calls have to be collect. I wish they would let the guys use phone cards-it would probably be alot cheaper! :)

They are allowed to have calling cards at Newton,TX so I imagine the other private prisons in OK and Pecos are also allowed.

Oklahoma doesn't have the phone cards, but the calls are a lot less expensive. Pecos does have the phone cards...so if your guy is in one of the private prisons out-of-state you will be able to get cheaper rates or he will have access to phone cards.

It costs about 2.00 for 20 minutes if you are local. It costs 19.00 - 20.00 for 20 minutes if you live in another state, like I do. They charge me bascially ten times as much for the same call. It sure makes it hard on me financially, so we have to limit our calls somewhat. Something needs to change.
