Hi everyone. I think my honey's getting transferred to Wasco tomorrow, and I'm wondering a bunch of stuff....

How long will he be there?
How bad is it?
Is it true that there's no phone calls in reception?
How long does it take to get approved?
Is there anything about visiting that I should know? (How early to get there, etc....)

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. He's been in county, just 20 minutes away for the last 8 weeks, and I'm gonna go nuts not being able to see him for a while.

thanks,

k

We just left Wasco after 8 months so I will tell you of our experience. It wasn't bad as far as visiting for the last several months. The CO's are pretty by the books, read the back of the form and follow it exactly. The only recent changes are that shirts must have a 2 inch sleeve all the way around :confused: and shoes must have a back strap.
No phones in R/C but I got a letter within two days of his arrival.
It took me about 3 weeks to get approved, that apparently depends as well. Most people said less than 6 weeks.
No packages but you can send books from the vendor, soft cover only.
20 embossed envelopes in any one package. Writing paper without spiral or cardboard binding.

I became very familiar with the visiting staff and really liked them. They treated everyone with respect and tried to be as helpful as possible.

God Bless You and Good luck.

Nah, he's been 20 minutes away from where I live for the past 8 weeks. Wasco is going to be about a 3 hour drive or so.

I'm trying not to stress. It's not easy. That's why god invented klonopin!

Everyone was really friendly at Theo Lacy, and that was nice. It's good to hear that there won't be any real hassles. I just read yesterday where that 73 year old got strip searched?!??! Eww!!!

Thanks so much for the information! I just want to make sure we stay in contact, and that he knows that I love him......and of course, try to see him as soon as humanly possible.

Was yours in reception the whole 8 months??

Thanks,

k

Thanks so much!! Was he in reception the whole time?

I'm glad that they're nice to you there. That'll make things a whole lot easier.
