View Full Version : Old Folsom and Mule Creek switch dianne236 08-14-2005, 07:37 PM My husband is in old folsom and word is that in October Mule Creek and Old Folsom are going to switch. Has anybody else heard this? I heard it is a pretty for sure thing but I don't know entirely... Diane93635 08-14-2005, 07:49 PM Switch??? What do you mean by switch? My man is at Mule Creek and I haven't heard anything like that yet... Diane93635 08-14-2005, 07:49 PM Nice name by the way...LOL! :D denverswife 08-14-2005, 08:01 PM Mule Creek is going to an all SNY facility, if that's what you mean. But Old Folsom isn't one now, is it? CDC is planning to house all SN inmates in just a few facilities, instead of having them spread out all over the system. dianne236 08-14-2005, 08:39 PM My husband heard that they are going to make Old Folsom PC/SN (same thing??) and all the other inmates are going to Mule Creek. As in they are literally going to take Mule Creek inmates to Folsom and Folsom inmates to Mule Creek. It sounds complicated to me...but I haven't heard for sure but more than a few people at Old FOlsom know about it. A lady on the committee told me that it is true. Diane93635 08-15-2005, 12:18 AM Mule Creek is now a special needs prison...but still in the process of making it that way. When I talk to my guy I'll ask him if he heard about this Old Folsom thing. denverswife 08-15-2005, 05:17 PM My husband says they haven't even finished making Mule Creek all SN and they haven't heard anything about moving to Old Folsom. They are housing mental health patients there in special trailers on the yard as well. They have them separated even from the SN inmates! He works in visiting, hasn't heard anything. Diane93635 08-15-2005, 08:44 PM Hey Denverswife...you man works in visiting?? That's why he looks way familiar...LOL...I tripped on that before... Does he work in the A yard visiting room? Bec Marie 08-15-2005, 11:41 PM My man said that he heard that on top of the Avenal transfers they are transferring guys to Salinas Vallay and Old Folsom. I don't get it, like denverswife said they are still converting it! If I hear I'll let you know. Bec denverswife 08-16-2005, 11:37 AM Diane: That's my Babyboy!! Only he shaved his hair way short since the photo. I don't go to regular visiting since we got family visiting in December, but now I'm missing meeting all you girls! I sent you a PM about living in Banos, I hope we get the chance to talk sometime, I actually miss the place! His name is obviously Denver and he'd be the one playing with the kids all day instead of cleaning up! Tell him you know me from here, he knows I post and has checked opn a few people for panicky ladies. My name is Debbi and I'll be down there for a family visit on Labor Day. Maybe better check your man first, they can be pretty fummy about us knowing people on our own!! Diane93635 08-16-2005, 12:28 PM Debbi...I know what you mean about checking with my man first...they can get a little crazy sometimes...but my guy is real laid back... Plus, he knows about PTO also...I've sent him a few threads even so he can get an idea of what it is...he's been down for almost 15 years so he has no idea really of what the net is like. He thinks PTO is cool....;) I see your man all the time when I visit...he has always looked so familiar...now I know why...LOL! Colossians3Two 10-01-2005, 10:02 PM Hi there! My man has heard that rumor too. But, he said that it was going to be happening in about a year, so who knows! You know how rumors go! I don't know anything about Old Folsom, so I think I'll go check it out! Have a wonderful weekend! :D funnyface09 10-02-2005, 08:12 PM We were just told that they are transferring inmates from MC to other prisons because they are closing down the SNY& PC yards and turning it into a reception Center along with PVSP in Coalinga. My nephew is at MC and he is being transferred to NEW Folsom. I hate to see him transferred there! He is already being taken advantage of at MC and losing all his canteen. And MC is a GOOD prison! I was told by my hubby that New Folsom is just as bad as old folsom and just as dangerous and to tell my nephew to keep his mouth shut, keep to himself and buy very little canteen. I hope we can get some REAL info in here soon. This has me VERY worried! Sherrie denverswife 10-02-2005, 09:48 PM When I was at family visiting at Mule Creek the inmate channel said that all CA facilities are being reviwed and the NEWER ones would be changed to reception centers, the OLDER ones to SNY. They also said that it was a long process and will take several years. That was from the Administration to the inmates on the "All Prison, All the Time" channel! dianne236 10-02-2005, 10:41 PM I visited my husband yesterday and he said they are still talking about changing stuff but he never knows what will really happen. He hopes he doesn't leave Old Folsom because he wouldn't be able to do his welding anymore and he is now certified in two areas!!! I am so proud of him. Anyways..he doesn't want to lose his job is kind of how he feels about it but he said nobody really knows what is going on..... Imiss him (sorry) vikkiejean 10-03-2005, 12:41 AM I visited MC today and my guy said he heard they were going to be moving to Folsom...he would rather stay there....me to. Hey Debbie I didn't see Denver there again today.... whats happening? dianne236 10-25-2005, 07:31 PM I got a letter from my husband today and he said that his counselor said they are moving all the level 2s out of Old Folsom but I don't know if it is to one certain place... denverswife 10-25-2005, 07:47 PM Hey Vickie! Denver lost his job when he got the 115 last month. But he's coming home in two weeks, so I guess he'll manage!! vikkiejean 10-26-2005, 12:45 AM Wow 2 weeks, I cant wait till I can say that.....but I really don't have that long, the first part of April. For the first time in years, no new prisons are planned or under construction in the state. Kern Valley State Prison is the last of 20 prisons built in recent decades. Also known as Delano II, California's 33rd penitentiary was needed to relieve crowding and to house the growing number of violent inmates that older, less secure facilities can't handle, corrections officials say. But critics question whether Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is skirting his promise to close the state's budget gap by curbing prison spending. The new facility cost taxpayers $379 million to build, and will take $110 million annually to operate. The state Department of Corrections has grown into a $5.7 billion a year behemoth since its inception more than 150 years ago, housing 301,181 offenders in various facilities, including 163,939 inmates. The 1994 three-strikes law, which mandates 25-years-to-life sentences for most offenders with two previous serious convictions, has packed the prisons full. The state's maximum-security population has grown from about 28,230 inmates in 2000 to about 31,730 last year. The system operates at 194 percent of capacity. The new Delano facility, a series of tan concrete buildings behind double rows of electrified barbed wire, is tucked away amid fields of cotton and grapes in the San Joaquin Valley about 130 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Its design is supposed to enable prison guards to monitor the most violent inmates at all times. Officials also hope Kern Valley will serve as a model for bringing vocational training and educational opportunities to other maximum security prisons. Delano, the dusty Central Valley town where César Chávez founded the United Farm Workers union, is home to the 5,028-inmate North Kern State Prison. »Next Story» (http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20050615/news_1n15discrim.html) http://www.signonsandiego.com/images/black.gif |
