Hi, everyone. My boyfriend wants me to send him stamped envelopes, paper and pens. The first time I mailed it, everything got in but the pens. It took a while for him to get the package. I called the prison, he's at Ironwood, and theytold me that pens are not allowed. I told my boyfriend this and he said that I had to send it through priority mail and they will be accepted. I'm not sure if he said priority mail but if I send it that way they are not allowed to open it . They have to open it infront of him. So my question is are pens allowed this way or not at all. Today is Sunday so I won't be able to call until tomorrow. Hopefully somone knows the answer.

Hi... I don't think pens are allowed to be sent in regular mail but you can order them through their special packages or quaterly packages. I usually just send envelopes with stamps and papers, but no pens.

hiya lovingbaby,
Pens are not accepted through mail. They will tell the inmate to mail them back at there own expense. Only time you can send pens is through the quarterly packages. As far as the priority mail is concerned, they can open it and such, but the one mail they cant open until the inmate is there and thats Express Mail. That is when the inmate signs for it.

hope this helps

Good Morning,
I honestly couldnt answer that question loving my baby. I would say, calling the prison and see what they say, or just send it and if it gets returned then you'll know. Hint of advise loving my baby, in my experiences sending express mail is a waste of money to be honest with you. It gets there the same time as snail mail does and gets to him no faster then the regular mail does. It will take days for him to get it; dont get me wrong the express will get to the address the next day, but once the officers pick up the mail it can take up to a week possible 2 for them to get it. it.
Good luck,
Hope this helps

I gotta agree with Vitameatavegami on this one. My husbands says to never mail anything express because the officers will think it's something else and it will take days for him to get it.

I tried to send pens to Ironwood and they did not give them to my boyfriend. He told mr to send clear pens but that did not work. I think you just have get them in the quarterly package
