View Full Version : Private Family Visit??
annie71 08-14-2005, 11:44 AM  Is anyone out there that has had a private family visit? I am soon to experience one and would reeeeeeeally like to get feedback from someone that has gone through it. I am a little freaked, excited, and all the emotions you can imagine!! I don't know what to bring in there, what the process is, how often do the guards come and check on you while you're in the trailer, soooooo many questions. So if there is anyone out there that has gone through it I would appreciate it if you could share your experience. Thanks:)
Kassiesgma 08-15-2005, 09:01 AM I am going into one today.
They are wonderful. I've been having trailer visits for almost 18 years.
At Bath the guards do a walk 3 to 4 times in the day..otherwise you are left alone.
annie71 08-15-2005, 03:28 PM What are you allowed to take in there? I want to take my cell phone but I know what they will say. I am going in by myself and my kids are staying at their dad's so I would like to have my cell phone if anything were to happen they could call. I have no clue what to take. I have had my community assesment so just waiting for it to go down the rest of the line. So any feedback you have I truly appreciate hearing it. Let me know the whole process, do's and don't's, etc.... Thanks a lot and I hope your visit was great. Take care
glasmech 08-21-2005, 06:32 AM Each and every Prison has there own rules. The previous post from the person going into Bath has a different outlook. Some allow you to take food in and others DO NOT. There is or suppose to be a Brochure on what you can or cannot bring. Cell phones definite NO NO. The security of the prison and the prisoner depends on the rules. The Warden also makes the rules. However it does not mean that the staff will follow them. Some make up the rules as they go along.Glasmech
Mongo's Mama 08-21-2005, 09:06 AM I wish I had this problem!!!! I'd do just about anything for a trailer visit, or any visit at all right now!!!
But, I did read about it in asha bandele's book. From what she said it is very strict what you can and cannot take. You need to contact the facilitiy and make sure they give you a complete list, that way you will be sure. I'd hate for you to get there for the visit then be turned away because you didn't comply, or something like that.
Please make sure you get the rules and all from that facility before you go!!!
annie71 08-22-2005, 09:57 PM Thanks guys! I hope I do bring the right things in, just common sense I think. I know you cant bring in candles (which is REALLY dumb) BUT you can bring in a lighter! WEIRD- I KNOW
No blow dryers or even hair spray I think. Long list. Well wish me luck. I know it will go well. Thanks for all the replies. Hugs to all
lilbabyc 09-24-2005, 09:37 AM hey, im supposed to be going after my man get sentenced. How long are the visits?
witchlinblue 10-17-2005, 07:47 PM Have you had your visit ? We would all like to know how it went and perhaps some advice for anyone who will be having a visit coming up ?
LovinJus 11-02-2005, 11:58 AM I am going on one soon and am interested to know how your visit went...
I basically have all the same questions you did before you went!
Andy's Gem 11-12-2005, 01:12 AM I'm in the process of getting all that set up right now. Hopefully, I'll be approved in the next week or so...and if i am, i may be able to go up a month after that. So yes, any advice would be great! It would also be nice to hear how everyone else's visits went...
Kassiesgma 11-12-2005, 05:47 AM I don't know about anyone else...but I LIVE for trailer visits (pfv's). They are the one thing that can make you feel like you have a somewhat normal relationship. My next visit is at the end of December. We are in for 4 days over New Years. I am bringing my three year old granddaugther in. Grandpa loves to be with her.

LovinJus 11-23-2005, 08:17 AM Thanks witchlin, and yes it is the best christmas present I could ask for...aside from him coming home of course  ...but I will keep y'all updated with whatever I find out.
stevesboo23 11-24-2005, 12:11 PM When I went for mine in kingston we had to order food and whatever we wanted through gage's canteen. I had to pay for it or we had to eat the crappy prison food. NO CELL PHONES, only ur clothes and make sure everything is cleaned and packed right away into a bag. I have heard of way too many people getting refused there visit for testing postive for drugs......
