It's hard to answer your question without more information. The short answer is that it depends upon a number of things: How long the original sentece is, what the offense was, etc.

If the person you're inquiring about is in the Arkansas Dept. of Corrections, you can look them up on the ADC website at: http://www.state.ar.us/doc/ (go to "online service" and then "inmate search". This should show their first PE/TE date available (parole eligable/transfer eligable) date.

Hope this helps, if not, provide more information and I'll be happy to respond.

Just like jimnbeth said, it depends on so many factors, such as the length of time they were sentenced, what percentage of their time they have to serve, what class they are, etc, etc. There is not a generic amount of time, each case is different.

Well I Have Learned More Now. And It's Not Good. He Was Sentenced To 15 Yrs. And His Pe/te Date Is 2015. He Was Sentenced Under The 70% Law. All I Can Hope For Now Is That They Will Get So Overcrowed That They Will Release The None Violent Inmates Early. He Is In For Manuf. And Poss.

I hate to bring you more bad news but my husband was sentenced to 15 years under the Y and he HAS to do 10 1/2 years. It doesnt matter how croweded the prisons get they will not let the 70%ers go early. They have to do 70% of their time and that is all there is to it. Sorry

I just got home from seeing my husband and I asked him about the 70% rule because I wanted to be sure. He said that he could get out early with the EPA but no more than 3 months early which is the same for my husband. I am sorry about giving you bad news. I have done some years with my husband (6 to be exact) and wish I would have been lucky enough to find this site years ago. I dont think MY time would have been as hard if I would have known about PTO so you are lucky that you found this site. The people here are very friendly and will answer your questions. If they dont know the answer they will direct you in the way you need to go. Good luck and again im sorry for the bad news.

Kbaby/Crisnclay:

There was a law passed in Arkansas (Kbaby, that's where I assume your son is) that repealed the 1997 law requiring the 70% rule. I know this won't help Crisnclay, because it was only for future offenders. Kbaby, I'm not sure when this new law actually takes place (March, when it was passed, or August when it became law) and I'm not sure when your son was convicted, but it's worth looking into. I'm attaching the site where you can begin your research, you will most likely have to call the House of Representatives to get further information on the new law.....let me know if I can help any further.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add that the repeal of the 1997 70% rule is "Bill 387" and I believe it passed both the Senate and House in March 2005. Hope that helps.
