I know this should belong in the prison wedding section, but I thought I was more likely to get an answer in here.

Any ways, Chris is going to be transferred to Avenal very soon, and he and I are going to get married ASAP. I was wondering what the process is like there, and how long it takes to happen. Any amount of info would help so much. Thanks.

Somerdawn....Don't know anyone from Avenal who has gotten married, so, I guess YOU get to be our trailblazer! Congratulations. We will help at whatever turn we can. If you can keep posting your steps, that will be info for others that follow. Congratulations on the wedding and keep us posted.

well from what I know and it could have changed again by now, the inmate contacts the counselor, they give you all the information of things you need to have prior to, they speak with you to make sure this is what you want and some other questions.
You have some counsel stuff, then the wedding is performed on a Friday, your loved one is allowed 2 inmates to stand up with him, you are allowed I believe it is 9 other people ALL of them have to be approved visitors for him already. I'm not 100% sure on that NOR any of this because like I said it could have changed again already.
You can NOT bring anything into the wedding except the rings, his has to be valued under 100.00$ no diamonds or any other stones. No Camera's no nothing, your photo's are taken by a polaroid, and they are 2.00$ each. This part again I never was clear on if you had to buy the ducats prior to the wedding OR if he could have them purchased, but my guess is you purchase them prior when you enter the visiting process room.
I'm sorry I can't be much help on this, but it doesn't seem like I will be getting married there anyways, so I pretty much forgot a lot of it.
