As I read more and more about the Death Penalty and the actual method of executions, it is always talked about how the "victims" are being taken care of. For example, how they are briefed before the execution and then afterwards they have a counseling session to talk about their feelings of what they saw and stuff. I have yet to read anything, any help, that is offered for the offenders family that has had to stand by there loved one on death row and then watch them die. Are there any programs out there for them? Does TDCJ have anything offered to help them?

I am not making light that the victims family needs help. But in executions, it seems like both sides need help.

I AM NOT SURE IF THEY DO BUT I WILL LOOK INTO IT AND LET YOU KNOW. I THINK THAT THEY DO HAVE A PROGRAM FOR COUNSELING BUT I WILL MAKE SURE.

I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROGRAM... I HAVE A VERY DEAR FRIEND WHOSE NEPHEW WAS EXECUTED IN AUGUST 2001. THERE WAS NO ONE THERE FOR THE FAMILY. HIS BROTHER, AUNT (WHO STOOD BY HIM WITH LAWYERS FOR APEALS) HIS SISTER IN LAW. NO ONE WAS THERE... THEY RECEIVED NO COUSELING.... THIS OF COURSE IS IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA, BUT I WOULD BE WILLING TO BET THAT ANY OTHER STATE IS THE SAME.... WE HAVE A VICTIM'S RIGHTS ORGANIZATION WHO HAS A COUNSELOR THAT SITS WITH THE VICTIMS DURING TRIAL AND DURING THE EXECUTION OF THE INMATE... NOT A SINGLE PERSON OR A WORD OF KINDNESS TO THE FAMILY OF THE INMATE.

Why? Why does our society hate so much?

I have a friend who is a Chaplain and he was on duty several months ago. His job was to counsel/pray with the victims family. There was another chaplain for the offenders family.
