I found out today that my baby was sent to Wasco. I was just wondering what the in's and out's to visiting are? Can he receive a special package while in reception? And any other info that I might need to know to make things a little bit easier on the both of us.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Wasco visiting :wave::wave: we've been there for about 7 months. No packages except soft cover books from a vendor. You can send 20 envelopes, from the post office with the postage printed on. Writing paper, pic's etc., they are pretty cool about, no spiral binding or cardboard. The visiting staff are pretty reasonable. Shoes must have a back strap, shirts must have a sleeve, other than that is it exactly as the approval form says. You can check in from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sat and Sun and visits are one hour behind glass. If there is any gang affiliation you make an appointment. Take your approval form the first time, once in a while they have a glitch in the system. You can take pic's in to visit, one key (not on a key ring), no sunglasses, money, etc in reception.

most yards are on lock down for maybe another month. According to someone who called me for my son, last week. Send you approval in asap, so maybe when it is ok'd they'll be off lockdown. Remember, reception visiting is behind glass. :( Good luck and happy visiting.

What do you mean about taking your approval form? Do you need to make a copy before you send it in? If I'm right they tell the inmate who is approved for visits.

He will send you a copy of your approval with all the rules and reg's on the back.
