I am sorry but I don't know anything about Wasco prison. But I will give you a 800 # that will tell you all about their visiting and yard restrictions1-800-374-8474 follow the instructions. I believe that Wasco area code is 661. I hope that this helps you.

You can't download the form, they have to send it to you with his signature. He should get it in the next day or two. Then you just wait until they give him the approval. The mail out is pretty fast, usually within two days.

They get the visiting form pretty quickly and then it takes about 60 days sometimes to get approved! I went to go see my husband but I took a chance and was actually just approved but didn't know it! It took me about 3 hours to drive up there and it is an hour behind the glass, I say if he doesn't mind and you can wait about an extra 30 days wait to go when he gets to where he is going. The visiting is then contact all day long! :thumbsup: I know girl, this is the TOUGHEST PART NOW...so be prepared. The mail sucks, no phone calls, and really no visits for about the next 90 days...so keep yourself busy and know we are all here for you!! Once he gets to main line it will get much easier and go by much faster!! Just stay strong and hang in there!!
You can send him 20 stamped envelopes from the post office, I say do it ASAP so he can write to you!!

So wasco is on Lockdown again. My friend is a souther hispanic so that sucks. He is in the D yard. It only took me like 3 weeks to get approved for visitation. And as far as sending the stationary you can send it right away as long as you know what yard and cdc number and all that. The address is wasco state prison PO Box 7700 Wasco, Ca 93280. Take care

a lockdown is when the inmates are confined to their cells. no phone calls. no store. no getting packages. they get regular mail. no visiting!
always make sure to call before going. lockdowns have been a regular think there this year.
no appointment necessary if they are mainlined. not sure about reception. probably not. there are usually only a couple of visitors on the A yard for behind glass.

I am not sure about d yard. I will keep an ear out if I hear anything. My fiance is still in RC so we are just in waiting status. If there is anything I can answer I will try. I have been going there since June 2005. I visit every other weekend.

Jennmy husband is in wasco. he has been there for over a month now. it is very crowded and he is still in reception. He hasnt even seen his counselor yet. It only took me about 3 weeks to get approved, and i have been to see him already 3 time. depending on how many are waiting to visit, you might get a little longer than 1 hour. my first visit I got 1 1/2 hr. If it were me i would drive 4 hours for 10 minutes! call down there and get his address, they will tell it to you. then you can start sending him letters, pics, paper and envelopes as soon as you know where to send them. I hope the time goes by fast for you, its tough at first at least it was on me! we were lucky we only got 3 months, he will be home on jan 1. just write and write and write! its like therapy, it will help you feel like you are actually talking to him!

My husband was moved from the dorms to a cell and they put him in the "D" building and he was on lock down. Dont know if they were already on lockdown or if he was involved with the fight that got them put on lock down! My Thanksgiving was a very sad one!

I just need to vent. I left a little late to go visit my husband. It takes me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to Wasco. I got pulled over for speeding and got to visitor processing at 1:50pm and of course they wouldn't let me in as they stop at 1:45pm. The CO would even listen to my story. It was totally my fault but frustrating none the less. I really hate all of this! This is his second time around. I never thought I would have to deal with all of this again!

Sammycat - I am so sorry. And really feel horrible about my visit (just to vent) I did something I said I wouldn't do...I B***d about mail AGAIN!! My God...I am so angry...not about the mail, just about the situation. I am angry we are in this situation, I was angry that he couldn't go home with me, I was angry that I couldn't touch him...I was just plain angry!!!!
I was in tears by the time our visit was ending and all we could both do is walk away...he just said, "I love you, don't worry" I feel so selfish for being angry because I know he is in there not me...but, sometimes I just can't take it anymore.

elilopez, I really hate that happened. When I mentioned "late", my LATE is 12 noon. Because I am usually there at 9 am I leave san diego very early. I can only imagine how you felt. Sometimes I could just scream.

I dont think he should be in there, he should be home with me and our kids!!! Especially knowing that the reason he is in there was because someone was jealous!!!! Yes, I try to leave no leter than 6 am and processing is usually very fast. most people get there at 8. A few weeks agao I stayed over night up there and I didn't like getting there too early. 10 or 11am is usually nice.

I take the 5N to 99..then off on 46...in case anyone cares LOL, I just realized you all were talking about from Frenso LOL...I am loopy sometimes.

When Kris sent my visitor form, I mailed it back to him directly and he took care of it from there. In about 3-4 weeks I got my approval back

:) thanks for welcoming me i'm in Santa Ana CA and this is my first time i really would appriciate any help i can get on info for wasco my man is in RC A-t6 up what does this mean ? is this behind glass and how can i get info on visits ? please help

RC stands for Reception Center - He's on the A yard, and the other is his bunk number, and up means he has a top bunk.

Yes, it's behind glass, for one hour.

Follow the CDC rules for attire, with the addition of all shoes must have a back strap (no open heels) and you should be fine. I only visited there a few times, but never really encountered any problems.

You just go in, fill out a form with your name and address, his CDC number, his name.....wait while they process you. When they call YOUR name, go up, take off your shoes, put them in the wooden box along with your ID, car key and any jewelry you don't think will make it through the metal detector. Pull your front pockets inside out, if any, then turn around and show them your butt. Walk through the metal detector, they will slide the box along the counter. Grab your stuff, put your shoes on, and wait for them to stamp the inside of your wrist.

Then you go outside, into a little cage. When it's closed behind you, the other gate will open. Go through that and to the building straight ahead. Sign in and give your id/slip to the person in the booth. Sit and wait. This time they will call HIS name instead of yours, and give you a # to sit at. They put them all together and there are a couple of different doors, so just follow everyone else if you're not sure which door to go through.

When you're done, don't forget to pick up your ID. When you get back to where they stamped you, show them your stamp. You don't have to remove your shoes for the return trip through the metal detector.

That's pretty much it. Jenn's approval went through in record time, but mine took about a month. The staff is courteous, but not overly friendly, in my experience, but I only went a few times.

Jenn's a pro (Kevin'sJenn, on here). She's been going up there since the end of August, and poor Kevin is still in reception. Hopefully not much longer!

I have a question for anyone who is reading this. When you are visiting your friend, husband or whoever it is you are visiting, do you sit in that waiting room and watch people come in and out and ever wonder if maybe one of those people are someone on here that you have chatted with or responded to someones reply or made a comment to? I do. lol. But i get bored sitting there waiting for them to call my name! Just wondering!
