Wondered if anyone knows anyting about this unit? Just found out this is where they transferred my son to.

I have been able to find out it is a "small" unit...with no trades or programs? (ie..substance abuse, etc.) but that they are allowed contact visits from the beginning unless they do something to loose that privledge....

My Brother is in this unit. I have never been there. I plan on going in August. It is 299 mile from where I reside.

Do either one on yall live in the Austin area? My boyfriend is there and he's never seen his 7month old baby girl he won't go up for parole til Nov 07. I haven't seen him in over a year I will help with gas.

My husband was at Goodman. Although,he was there for over a year it is a transfer facility. The guards are very nice,and the atmosphere is very laid back. They call this unit The Friendly Goodman Unit. They are strict with the dress code. Hope this helps.

Is it Jasper or Newton? My man is in Newton now and it was not to bad, but just very far from me. They are transferring my man back. Since the Hurricane Rita things have not been so great. Good luck

Well.....it seems my son was involved in a fight and will be transferred....he is guessing that he will go to either Coffield or Ferguson. And it seems he has been labeled "gang related"....I had previously written him with info I have learned from here and others and specifically mentioned that he should at all cost avoid being labled that....sighhh. I got the letter almost two weeks ago and when I called the locator service they still show him at Goodman. He wrote some very disturbing info on those two units....I was of course worried and upset before, now...I just don't know what to think...Trying to figure out how to get through each day without letting this drive me totally crazy.

Hi Rene! I was wondering about Goodman Unit myself. Has anyone heard anything? They are right in Gustav's path according to the map, but they are not on the list. I wonder why!!!!:rolleyes: My grandson is incarcerated there. He should be released on the 10th of October of this year! Can't wait!
