I have read reviews for several books on the subject of interracial dating, but have yet to read any. I was wondering if anyone had read these who is in an interracial relationship and what your thoughts were on the book you read.

When I was working at American Wholesale (the warehouse for Books-A-Million)...I came across this book called "Just Don't Marry One". It was a book about interracial relationships...and what to "say" to people who disagree with one..basically "Just Don't Marry One". From what I read of it...it was a really good book. I've been meaning to go get the book but, I gotta get the $ first. LOL

That is one of the few that I have seen and wondered about. After I read your post, I went looking for other books dealing with IRs. I ran across "Tell the Court I Love My Wife : Race, Marriage, and Law--An American History" and "Love's Revolution: Interracial Marriage." Looks like I better start planning a reading list. :)

There used to be a magazine that catered to IR relationships. This was some years back so I don't know if it's still around. I have never went and looked for books or anything though.

I'm not into the self-help thing. It works wonders for some, but for me, it don't. I never had a big problem dealing with my IR relationships. It's just life to me love it or leave it. The magazine I saw was just more geared to people who had biracial children.

Not all of them are self help. There are some that are like romance novels that deal with the struggles of IR couples. There is one that is about the couple who sued the state of Virginia for the right to marry interracially, and then a few on the history of IRs in the US.

Aye, must there be a "book" for everything? My God, start from the basics. We are all humans first.

i just got finished with Once In A Blue Moon by Dorrianne Cole. I enjoyed it. They dug into the issues that the families face while coming to grips with interracial relationships which is a real sore spot with me so...

There is a book called The Color of Water and it is by a biracial man and he puts his entries and interviews his white mother and puts her experience throughout her life in the book. She grew up in the 40s dating black men so you can imagine how hard she had it. Now, she has 13 children and all of them are college graduates, most with PHDs. It is a really great non-fiction book, really inspiring.

I read a really good book, not exactly about interracial relationships, but it is called, "beyond the whiteness of white". Excellent read.

this isnt a book...but there is a play in NY called "platanos and collard greens" about black/hispanic dating...i really want to go see it.

there are books out there for everything, as there should be. not everyone can deal as easily with things as the rest of the world...

i read romance novels with a passion...and plenty of them are based on interracial relationships...not exactly self help lol.
