I am actually smiling its not often these days that I find a smile on my face.

Just got off the phone with my son, he was allowed to make a special call to me this morning because the guard who is working has taken the time to help my son and knows that he has not been able to get through to me because of my work schedule.

The guard has taken Billy aside and has given him some pointers on who to stay away from and he has also seen my son crying and told him to go back to his cell so the other guys don't see him crying. To this man whoever he is -I will be forever grateful. He checks in with my son and lets him stay out a little longer when he gets his medicine and talks to him. Thank God for random acts of kindness.

There was so much to talk about and so little time, the phone call went really fast and he wanted to hang up before they cut in with the warning. He was afraid we would get cut off and said this would make him really sad if we did not get to say Good bye and our love you's.

He is in his cell 23 hours a day and gets our for rec and when he takes his meds and of course when they eat. He has not been to the store yet but his day is on Wed. So he has not had any hygiene products since he has been there. He said he is feeling pretty gross. I would be too.

The only day I can visit is on Mondays and I can't make it this monday due to work but am planning on going the following Monday. I have to bring a picture ID and proof that I am his mother. (Weird, huh?) Thank God I was going through paper work last week and found his birth certificate.

He said that he is scared and that there are some really mean guys in there. I told him to focus on the good things and to just ignore the B.S. that goes on around him. He seems to think that he will be leaving the reception center soon but I don't know. I asked him if he had been assigned a case manager and he said he did not know because he has talked to a lot of people there but did not understand what their job titles were.

It felt so great to talk with him. Well, I just wanted to let you all know that I finally got to talk with him.

Now off to work I go, got to work today cause I took off on Wed. (my daughter had minor surgery) so talk to ya all later.

I could feel your very feelings, as I have a son in prison as well. we have been very lucky with the good treatment my son has recieved from correctional officers. Most have been very kind & supportive of him. There are also a tremendous amount of good people in prison. your son will soon learn who they are and things will be ok . once out of recption he should be able to call you often. my thoughts and prayers are with you.
