hello..i have made several post on here and dont know if i am doing it right..not got a awn from any of my post..my son is in grimes and well be move to tucker..not got to see him yet so i like to know if any one of these prison r a bad place to be..i know it not a motel...just a worry mother if some one well awn this back i thank u...

I'm sorry no one has been able to give you some information yet. I'm sure you are worried/concerned and have lots of questions. First let me welcome you to PTO. WELCOME!!

Most questions are posted in the "main" AR forum just a little further down on this page. You'll probably get more luck on getting replies there.

There is a Tucker and a Tucker Max. Two prisons beside each other in Tucker AR. Tucker AR is between Little Rock and Pine Bluff. I don't know much about Tucker Max. My husband is in Tucker. You'll need to fill out a visitation form and get approved for visits. Your son will have to send you the form to fill out and then you mail it back. After you are approved, your son will have to notify you what day his visitation is on. It will either be on a Saturday or Sunday from noon till 4 pm. I would suggest getting there a little earlier because there will be cars backed up waiting to get in for visitation. Make sure you follow visitation rules ie.. dress code, what you can take in with you, a valid picture ID, etc.

Your son will be able to hold his son during visitation. The corrections officers aren't too bad during visitation. You should not have any problems. There will be vending machines if you want to buy a soda or chips and stuff like that.

Tucker isn't too bad compared to some of the other prisons in AR. Go to the AR DOC web site and there's a lot of info that can answer some of your questions. http://www.arkansas.gov/doc/index.html . Also there is a pamplet on that site for families http://www.arkansas.gov/doc/pdf/handbook.pdf

I don't really know much about Tucker or Grimes, but I just wanted to welcome you to PTO! Looks like Matthew's Angel gave you some helpful information. As she said, if you have anymore questions, feel free to post!

Tucker visitation is better than Grimes to me. It is not so crowded and there were more microwaves at Tucker than there were at Grimes.;)
