My fiancee called me Saturday and told me his glasses were stolen while he was napping. He filled out a stolen property form etc etc. Today, he informs the captain of this and the captain searches my fiancee's stuff and no one else's. Then the captain tells my fiancee that he's going to move him to another barracks. What the hell?
On top of all that, now he has to get another set of glasses, which we have to pay the $3 co-pay.
So he gets his glasses stolen. He get his property searched and is going to get moved and we have to pay the co-pay. What kind of S**T is that?
That's my venting for the day, lol

Maybe the guy searched your man's stuff just to make sure he hadn't misplaced the glasses. He then determined that the glasses may have been stolen, so he moved him to a different area - by different people and away from whomever stole the glasses. That certainly isn't 'picking' on your guy. Three dollars is no big deal is it? If he were at home, he'd probably have to pay $200 or more for new glasses! Just send a money order to him for whatever you can afford this week so that he'll have the $3 and the cost of the glasses won't take away from his commissary items.
I don't mean to upset you but there are lots of things that happen in prisons for which we might get upset. A $3 charge for glasses isn't one of them. We spend money each week buying impulse items when we shop. Right? Instead of buying any impulse items, send him the money to get the things he really needs.

Doc's Sis, you're right, 3 dollars isn't a big deal but that's not the point. If he were home, his glasses wouldn't have been stolen. He needs his glasses in order to attend votech and without them, he can't do squat. The longer he's out of votech classes, the longer it is till he gets home. He's got the $3 on his books already so that's no biggie.
You didn't upset me at all. The situation itself has upset me because he's got more than one thing stolen and nothing is ever done. I know it's prison and no picnic ride but there's a limit to my patience. I've had to deal with CMS due to his diabetic condition and their lack of medical care. I've had to deal with the ADC on one ocassion or another and it just becomes so frustrating at times.

Just an update on my fiancee and his situation with his glasses. Turns out he has an older set of glasses so I called and talked to the assistant warden at Varner this morning. I asked if there was any way I could get these to him. He said he will check with the warden and see if he will approve and get back to me. He called me back within 10 minutes and had got approval. He said I need to send them directly to him and he will get them to my fiancee. No problem with that. So the glasses go off in the mail tomorrow and as soon as my fiancee receives them, he will be able to get back into votech. Woohoo!!!! Will be able to start counting down days again.
