View Full Version : How often do you write?
Taenas 04-22-2003, 03:06 PM Hello everyone I would like to start by saying I love PTO!
Question? How often do you write to you man? I write and send letters to my man everyday. The only time I don't send one is on Sundays (no postal service). I write to him so he knows what's going on and he feels like he's home with me. I can't talk to him everyday like I would want to. Am I crazy? Or is it just love? Maybe it's no life........
SandC4E 04-22-2003, 03:16 PM I write to Christopher everyday also. The only day that I don't mail out is Friday because he doesn't receive mail on Saturday.
For me, I want him to know that he's always right here with me regardless of the distance between us. He hates to write, but he manages to get me a letter a week and plenty of phone calls.
You are not crazy - you love the man you are supporting and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. As far as no life, I'm a member of that club also - at least for the next few years.
Have a great day!
Sheila
Chevygal55 04-22-2003, 03:16 PM I also write everyday... The letter I write on Saturday does not go out until Monday so.... two get mailed out on Monday... Saturdays letter and Sundays letter...
PixieQueen 04-22-2003, 03:57 PM I write everyday too. It's my only communication with Billy. --Helen
Manzanita 04-22-2003, 03:58 PM I write twice a weekand send cards and stuff, but daily?
I cant, with my schedule there is no way!
I wish! when I had one job I wrote more and longer!!!
Phil in Paris 04-22-2003, 04:02 PM I write Joey everyday, and since he's in the hole and has been transferred to a new facility, I send him 2 or 3 letters a day. Actually, 2 or 3 envelopes. 1 is a letter of course, the others are jokes or pictures or PTO prints or things like that. Florida DOC sucks with mail rules, so I have to split, which costs a lot in stamps !!!
I mail out from Monday to Friday for sure. Sunday the post office is closed. Saturday, it closes at 12 pm, so depending on how early I get up, I mail out or not :D But I always write on and off thoughout the week end, so the letter I send on monday is always a VERY long one !!! :)
Phil
KRIS_NC 04-22-2003, 04:36 PM I WRITE EVERYDAY BUT MAIL THEM EVERYOTHER DAY.. HE DOESNT GET MAIL ON SATURDAYS THOUGH BUT I ONLY GET MAYBE ONE LETTER A WEEK
Roosangel 04-22-2003, 04:50 PM I write my man every day too.....it is just my way of letting him know that i am doing ok and everything is fine........It makes him happy when he gets something just about everyday....It helps him with the time that he has........maybe i'm crazy too but i do love him and i want him happy and letters is the only way that i can do that right now.....
Taenas 04-22-2003, 05:28 PM It's nice to know that I am not te only one buying stamps every couple of weeks! So how many times a week (for those who write daily) are they "sex" letters? At lease once a week for me.
P.S. Kris_NC, your boo has a nice name.... My baby's "street" name is Tariq too! But I call him Pooh Bear. He's in Jersey.
bill's love 04-22-2003, 05:32 PM I write Bill everyday. Some weeks I will send a card.
passionpeche 04-22-2003, 05:33 PM I try to send a letter 2-3 times a month. My schedule is hectic and after a while I don't have much to share w/him. I need to be more supportive and I am working on it.
Lysbeth 04-22-2003, 05:41 PM Back in the old days when we were still just "old best friends" we both wrote about once every two weeks, and there were some times I let things get away from me and it'd be like once a month. However for about the last year I've been writing about twice a week, if not more. Lately he's getting something just about every day because I've been sending a lot of cards too! :)
I WRITE MY MAN EVERY DAY AND SEND CARDS TOO, ON FRIDAYS I START A LETTER AND CONTINUE IT ALL WEEKEND LONG, THEN MAIL IT ON MONDAY.
lee's lady 04-22-2003, 06:40 PM I try to write daily - I guess we all keep the post office running!
mrsdragoness 04-22-2003, 07:02 PM I write several times a day and ususally mail a letter every other day. Its kind of funny....before I retired, I actually wrote more than I do now.
Last year when I was working 70-75 hours a week, I was working a lot of midnight shifts so I had all night long to write to him - he was getting 7-10 pages a day.
But now....I write less...maybe because I'm not out working and have stayed pretty close to home all winter except for going to see him.
mrs. d
koldazzice 04-22-2003, 08:24 PM I thought that I was the only one that should have stock in the US Postal Service! I once bought their entire stock of Teddy Bear stamps which was 15 sheets!
I write him everyday, and I send him cards once a week, I am a card fanatic, plus the baby likes to send him drawings and little things that he makes in school.
I get 5-7 letters a week from him, he wakes up at 5:00 am to write me everyday.
Rock-n-Croc 04-22-2003, 09:18 PM I so agree with you,I write everyday(except weekends)(kids home from school-thats our time)
He loves it.He does the same we send and recieve letters at least 2 times a week. And if one of is slacking for whatever reason we feel it.
He loves being clued on what is going on around the house and whats going on with the kids and so on..
krisintx 04-22-2003, 09:40 PM i write everyday as well. my friend said don't you run out of things to write? NO way! I just wrote him about me cleaning the bathtub and smelling the cantalope at the store. I just like to include him in my daily life. i don't know how i find the time because I am a full time student, work part time and stay active with my family. Oh well I get it done so that is all that matters.
Kristen
irisheyes66 04-22-2003, 09:59 PM Up until recently, I was writing Shawn every day. But since kicking the whole relocation process into high gear, I have been slacking....now it's usually between 2-4 times a week.
I get up for work around 6 a.m., get home by 6 p.m., and then it's either painting, packing, or wallpapering....LOL!
We talk on the phone twice a week, for an hour or so each call, so that really helps us feel more "connected"; but I still find myself wishing I weren't so exhausted....even though he tells me he understands, I wish I could write as much as I used to.
*sigh*

DENIMBLUE 04-22-2003, 10:17 PM I SEND A LETTER OUT EVERY MONDAY, I TRY TO SEND "STUFF" (INTERNET, CROSSWORDS, JOKES) ONCE A WEEK, I TRY TO SEND A CARD ONCE A WEEK, I TALK TO HIM ONCE ON WEEK-ENDS (USUALLY). MY WEEKLY LETTER IS LONG BECAUSE I WRITE EVERYTHING IN THAT ONE. I AM IN A TIME CRUNCH RIGHT NOW. HE KNOWS THAT. IT'S WEIRD BUT WE HAVE A MENTAL CONNECTION. I DON'T KNOW HOW IT HAPPENS BUT WE THINK THE SAME THINGS ABOUT EACH OTHER QUITE A BIT! KINDA WONDERFUL IN FUNKY KIND OF WAY.
Whitney 04-23-2003, 03:38 AM OK, I feel bad a write once or maybe twice a month. But I do get to talk to him for 1-2hrs a day, so ummm that's my defense as to why I don't write but I am going to try and write more as I love getting letters.:D :D
danielle 04-23-2003, 04:41 AM We talk on the phone daily - so I've slacked off on writing a whole lot. Now it's once or twice a week.
babygirl_aa2004 04-23-2003, 07:42 AM I write 2 or 3 times a week. I send him funny pics, poems, and recently i've been sending him stuff recommended hear at PTO.
Lysbeth 04-23-2003, 07:42 AM I hear that! Except I'm not the one who's slacked off writing as much due to us having more phone calls... he has! That's OK tho. We talk on the phone twice a week now (or more) so I miss my letters but it's just as great to talk to him. I'm still writing as usual tho...
Trulykath 04-23-2003, 08:14 AM EVERY SINGLE day...sometimes, I send 2 or 3 a day....I send him pics, stuff from the internet...juicy, erotic stories, etc. LOL
Since he has been gone, I've gotten close to 300 pages of letters from him (in 164 days), and I would venture to say, he's received close to 1000 from me. The post office carries HOUDINI stamps, and I put the great escape artist on EVERY envelope!! LOL....comic relief from the peanut gallery!!
I've been bad with cards/fancy paper....but he knows I write him CONSTANTLY!!! I started numbering the envelopes at the first of March, and I've sent him almost 100 since then LOL...
What can I say? I miss him....so very much...
kath
ladyduke 04-23-2003, 08:19 AM up until about a week ago I would write everyday. I really can't explain why I've slacked up now.
Taenas 04-23-2003, 10:37 AM I spoke to my baby once and he told me that the mail person told him to ask me to send his letters out all at once cause they are tired of coming to his "room" everyday! LOL I said too bad..... They are gonna have to deal with it. So now they bring him his mail every other day. I've gotten some ideas from reading your posts. Like I need to buy more sationary, cards and colored pens. I don't wear too much perfume but I think I'm going to inverst in a couple of "knock-off" $1 brands so he can have something that's smells different (not the same old thing). Also, when I buy envelopes I address at least 30 to him, I add stamps to 5 at a time. Then in the morning if I'm in a rush I just put the letter in the envelope and run out the door. It's great that we all support our men. And I am happy that I am not the only one keeping the Postal Service in business!
praise4himnok 04-23-2003, 12:39 PM I feel bad....I only write to my husband once a month....but I he calls home EVERY night and I see him EVERY weekend....so I tend to run out of words to write...I did just write him a letter with the girls' recent pics in it. I feel really blessed to be able to speak with him nightly....I have it in my head that he is on a trip somewhere.....it helps the time go by faster......and that is always good. :)
TATINEE 04-23-2003, 01:33 PM I write to my boyfriend everyday, except Sunday, since it won't go out until the next day anyway. We also talk for at least an hour every other night, which adds up, but it's worth it! Like Kristen, I'm in school FT, work PT and have a family, but I stay up late to make sure he gets a letter. Who needs sleep? hehe
I WRITE MAYBE THRE TIMES A WEEK DOSEN'T REALLY MATTER WHAT DAY I SEND IT BECAUSE IT TAKES WEEKS BEFORE HE GETS IS. AND BECAUSE MY PHONE BILL GOT SO HIGH WE CAN'T EVEN TALK ANY MORE. ONLY TIME WE DON'T WRITE EACH OTHER IS WHEN ONE OF US ARE MAD....
Keema 04-23-2003, 09:33 PM I use to write Anthony 2 times a week but since we have been having "issues". I try to write everyday.
PRIS05 04-24-2003, 07:59 PM I USUALLY SEND OUT 2- 4 LETTERS A WEEK BUT IN HES BIRTHDAY MONTH I WRITE EVERYDAY.
PRIS
Kens_Queen 04-25-2003, 09:20 PM Started out, he wrote me (Sept. 2001) and we wrote, like. once a month.
Then by December or January, it became several times in a month, and then progressed up to once a week.
Now that I've decided it's OK for me to admit I'm in love with the man, (and believe me, this site has one a long way toward validating that for me!) it's every day. And I plan to keep it up every day and then do a long weekend letter for him, as long as the stamps hold out.
D.Houston 04-26-2003, 03:26 AM I write Brad EVERYDAY some times twice or three times a day. I also send him cards and jokes from the net. He also gets letters and drawings from my kids and I send tons of pictures. We don't have regular phone contact and I want him to really feel that he is loved as much as he is and this is the only way I can do that. He says he feels smotherd in love so I guess I am doing a good job. (lol) My kids drop letters in the box everyday on there way to school and make an extra trip on the weekends. And every time I go shopping I buy him a card.
Mrs. H 04-26-2003, 03:51 AM some weeks I write daily, others at least 3 times a week. Valentines month he gets a card every day all month long and at other times I get obsessive like that with erotic letters when I am feeling oh so creative. Sometimes I do artwork for him in an obsessive manner.
During weekends that I don't visit I write long letters throughout the days and nights and on Mondays have about 3 fat envelopes stuffed to mail to him. I receive 5-7 letters weekly from him. Also, he includes artwork to me and the kids and letters to them as well. He sends LOADS of cards to me and the kids, especially to ME! ;)
iYes it is wedded bliss! We are still on our honeymoon and it just keeps getting better!
AND AS SOON AS WE GET THE HONEYMOON CONJUGAL I WILL BE SCREACHIN ACROSS THESE AIRWAYS TO SHARE THE JOY! :fb:
sweetelf 04-27-2003, 02:16 PM i used to write my man every day...and he wrote bout every other day, now im closer to where he is, but cant see him at all, he doesnt write much at all.....is this something anyone else experiences? I understand that they dont have much to write about....and all that stuff...i was just curious if all of you who write daily get letters back, even once a week....
I write daily. It is almost like writing in a journal for me. I tell him about my day, how I am feeling, and how the kids are.
ravinna2000 05-03-2003, 02:19 AM Every day without fail, it's getting hard to stay creative but he really needs my letters and I enjoy writing him.
wyresgirl 05-03-2003, 04:08 AM i write my baby weekly... i see him everyday cept tues and wednesday and friday and saturday.... we see no point in writing all the time... waste of money and stamps ;)
I'm also another daily writer, I can't help myself. I do not want a monent too go by by without him knowing what's going on in the real world. I get letters from him 2 or 3 a week depending on what he is doing. tres
Ginger 05-04-2003, 04:01 AM I have been a total slacker on the letters lately. It just gets too tough with school full time and work full time. I try to print up stuff online and send him articles and papers from class cause he loves to get anything. Since I can't write as much I send extra phone money because staying in touch is so important to me. I am so excited that I only have one week of school left so I will be able to write my honey every day again!!!
ginger
ToughTimes 05-06-2003, 02:00 PM We wrote daily (sometimes more than one letter per day), talked 3-7 times/week, and visited 1-5 times/week. This man had me HOOKED LINE AND SINKER!! (still does ....)
knuffiwelt1 05-06-2003, 03:08 PM I write mostly everyday , but our postage is soooooo expensive...for only one sheet I pay 1,53 $.Last week I send a Comic, not big = 8 $ , horrible... wish I could send out more ....
~cheenna~ 05-06-2003, 10:06 PM For me, it is writing my son ... and that varies depending on my state of mind or body ... some weeks I'll write 3/4 times, other times it may be only one or none ... he understands how it is with me and knows I have never been one to write lerters so he loves the fact I write as much or little that I do ... he writes me at least once a week, sometimes more and for a young man (21) his letters are really very good ... he always has been one to internalize stuff, but now he really opens up in his letters ...
outlawsdeb 05-06-2003, 10:21 PM I write to my baby 2-3 times a day and he writes to me daily too. He's in the box so he really doesn't have much to do so I get all his thoughts...his plans for when he comes home...and he gets all my thoughts and all my love just as he sends me his
antonella_paris 05-07-2003, 02:46 AM I write to my friend R. (inmate in Death Row - TX) 1 or 2 times every month. But very long letters!!! Problem is most of times they are in lock-down so sometimes letters are lost or arriving on delay. I "hate" it... but this is the Prison Law there... Also for sending some little gift is NOT possible... but for his birthday I sent my Birthday card to Randy and I put something of me... a strand of my hair and a paper where I put on it my perfum... so it will be a way to be close to him for this special day. I hope he will appreciate it... What do they think? Anyway... me and R. are just "close friends" so I understand all you writing to your lovers every day... I also doing it if my boyfriend or husband stayng in this SAD place. I wish you good luck for all and be strong-positives always.
Best regards, ANTONELLA C. :p
I write everyday and mail out every day that I can. I share my day to day stuff and thoughts that come to mind that I might forget if I wait to visit or a phone call. I also do updates of friends and family so that I KNOW that I told him about things. I find great humor in it when he say that he did not get mail on a certain day. I remind him that I do not control the mail nor do I control the way it is distributed within the facility. This is one of my reasons for mailing everyday although they do not get mail on the weekneds.
I have written everyday for years now and will continue to do so until he comes home. It is a mushy way to know that I have touched him and that he has touched me.
JENNYANGEL,
I have a very hectic schedule also. I am a Professional Business Woman, no children but two elderly and not-so-well parents that I have to attend to. I also am like the Attorney for my man and I am daily making calls and working on something for him. This past January, my brother died and I was named Administrator of his Estate. Not only that, but I am ivolved in numerous organizations, church, three Chamber of Commerces, as well as serve on the Board of Directors with all of these organizations. I have no quiet time whatsoever but after I say my prayers and before I go to sleep, I pull out my pad and paper (which is right next to the bed) and write my man his daily letter. He gets at least two letters from me everyday. I mail them daily. This is my daily routine. If for some reason I'm too tired at night and don't write, I can't sleep. I then pull the pen and paper from the nightstand and write the letter. After I've written, I sleep just fine. I also get up early enough to write him in the morning before I start my day. My business take me out of town a lot so I also get to write numerous letters in the hotel when I'm away. So there is a way to mak time to write those letters daily. It'll make your love one very happy and them feel very special.
tammysmith 07-06-2003, 04:43 PM I try to write at least once or twice a week, sometimes i will write more if i am really down and depressed and missing him really bad.
BiggSugaMama 07-06-2003, 05:35 PM i write through out my day when i have a free minute to catch up on what is going on with things around the house and with our friends and such. i send letters about 3 or 4 times a week, and i send cards and poems and pictures 2 or 3 times a week. i like to keep mail going to him constantly, even though i haven't gotten any back in about 2 or 3 weeks.
MRSMAZE 07-07-2003, 09:55 AM I write every other day, we don't talk on the phone much.
Jennarose 07-07-2003, 10:17 AM Well I guessit helps knowing I am not the only one suporting the post office. I write to my man everyday and keep a letter going from friday til undaythenmail it out on monday. Plus my son writes at least once a week and I send cards all the time.
As for my frend i write him at least once a week maybe more. but we talk everyday and the same with my man sometimes I think I am working just to support the phone company and the post offce... :) But it's ok they are my heart!!!!!!!!
jewls 07-07-2003, 11:19 AM I write my husband everyday!! By now youdthink the postal service would give me stock or a job as much time as I spend there!!!! Phone company tooo!!! Hallmark we know eachother real well my fav would have to be the just between us line of cards...
JoshsGirl2003 07-07-2003, 01:07 PM I used to write him everyday, or at least every other day, but now that he is close to home and can call basically anytime, there isn't much to write about. We talk at least 2-3 times a day, but I still try and write him a letter at least once a week.
giggles4ver 07-07-2003, 03:59 PM I write Christopher everyday. I write throughout the day, so each day I usually write at elast two times a day. I mail him letters every couple of days. This is my only way to communicate with him. He is in another state, and in reception he cannot get a three-way to call me.
Samantha2000_15 07-07-2003, 08:51 PM I write him everday, and I send pictures and cards too, I try not to waste so many stamps, so I guess you could say that I am cheap because I usually stuff about 3 or 4 letters in one envelope. I only get a letter from him like once or twice a week, but he never has anything new to write about in there so I don't blame him.
matyrylgrl 07-07-2003, 10:20 PM I write Marvin every other day and send him anniversary card every month. When I'm really depressed or sad, I write to him twice a day. I always pour out what I'm feeling inside me to him. Even before when I'm mad or upset, I do pour out my anger to him and he's okay with that. He doesn't want me to keep it all inside me. He's always there to listen and always give me best advise. That's why I love this man so much. What will I do without him?
LaurieJ 07-07-2003, 10:29 PM I write every night, and just recently did we change from talking on the phone everyday to everyother day. On saturday nights I write Saturday and Sundays letters together and mail out one everyday that the mail runs. They look so forward to hearring their names called and it reassures him that I am thinking of him and only him.
Ms Lana 07-07-2003, 10:36 PM I write to Al just about every day or send a card, and they are in the mail at least every other day. The plus to this is I work next to a post office, so the mail goes out on my way to work and that post office is making a fortune on stamps!!
For me writing every day is my way of making him a part of my daily routine. It also keeps him going, knowing that he is a major part of my life.
I am very lucky that I am able to visit every Saturday and Sunday, and get a phone call at least once a week. Yet even with the visits, as soon as I leave him I already miss him. So writing helps me not miss him quite so much.
Lana
les n dom 07-08-2003, 12:57 PM I definitely write everyday. I promised him he would have at least 356 letters for his year long time! I write everynite before bedtime!
JudyH0311 07-08-2003, 09:13 PM I also write every day and have him subscribed to every magazine I can send. I told him he would never see a mail call go by that there wasn't something there for him and by golly he hasn't missed one yet because of me. Now I must admit, a time or two they had some desire to send them back but I just did up new envelopes and shipped them right back off!
GottaLuvJustice 07-08-2003, 11:10 PM I asked him just the other day ...
"How big of a part of your day is mail call?" I said.
"Baby, mail call IS my day!" he replied.
Awww!! I want to let him know he is loved DAILY. His surroundings may be dismal or dreary, but he knows that he is loved because I make a noticeable attempt to show it!
Jill
My fiancee says his day goes badly if he doesn't get mail from me. But I make sure that doesn't happen. I make sure he get something in the mail and at least two letters from me daily. I have him subscribed to every kind of magazine that is free and some that are not. I have publishers send books that I purchase for him, I've also put him in a couple of book clubs whereas I have to purchase so many books per year at really low prices and have them sent to him at the prison. I write about the upcoming Sunday School lessons with him and also write about everything that goes on in the daily lives of me, my family and friends. I have subscribed him to several newspapers, one from my hometown, one from his hometown and one from the city in which he is incarcerated. So he has a lot to read and when he finishes with some of the things he get in the mail, he passes it on to other inmates that is not fortunate enough to have someone send them mail. I'm constantly surfing the net for free things...
nubiantwin 07-10-2003, 05:08 PM I usually write to him once or twice a week. My letters are long and I always wait for a response from him before I send another. Occasionally I'll just send a letter without waiting because I have something that's on my mind and I don't want to wait.
jenin417 07-12-2003, 02:14 PM I write my fiance every day. I send the letters out two or three times a week though. I am also the queen of cards. I can't get myself out of the card aisle when I go to Wal-Mart. I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get my cards because I have almost bought every one they have that pertains to my situation. I really wish that Hallmark would make cards especially for people who have loved ones in prison. Well, there I go again, obsessing over cards. LOL

lilmisracer 07-12-2003, 02:28 PM I use to write everyday, mulitiple times a day and mail them out on the next day, and most would be like 14-15 pages... but now for some reason I write once a week, I think the days are getting shorter, with 3 kids, job, and school, there is no time left. Has anyone found a place to get cards at bulk... that way at least I can send a card a day, at least just a Hello card I am thinking about you...... can anyone relate...
lovinhimstill 07-12-2003, 09:35 PM Funny i found this post because about an hour ago i just got done writing him. I thought i wrote to much but its nice to see i'm not alone. Since i cant talk to him i writed him as if i was having a conversation with him. i write almost every day if not then 2 or 3 times in a day... he likes the mail i visited him today and he was complaining of not getting a letter from me in a week go figure i took a lil break and he's having a fit.
trescheek 07-14-2003, 08:49 AM I used to write two or three times per week but now that we speak on the phone more frequently, I only send mail about once per week ... usually a card with a letter or pictures ... usually what happens is by the time he gets the mail we've already discussed whatever I wrote in the letter! :)
dolphinlovr 07-14-2003, 10:18 AM HI MY NAME IS RHONDA AND IM KNEW TO PTO....I JUST LOVE ALL THE SUPPORT!!! I WRITE TO MY FRIEND EVERY DAY AND ALSO SEND CARDS!!! HE SAYS HES GOING TO GET HIS OWN MAIL BOX BECAUSE HE GETS SO MUCH MAIL FROM ME!!
Rostonhall 07-14-2003, 11:14 AM I write to my fiance every day and send cards.
I can't walk past a card shop without going in and I'll have to find some goods shops when I'm next over because I'm running out of new ones here (London).
Although I write to Tony everyday the letters don't get to him. He gets a couple of letters and a card every two or three days so I don't know what happens once they get to Menard!!
usercrzy3944 07-16-2003, 01:46 AM I write my man every day. I send cards, letters, poetry, pictures that the kids draw, pictures of me and the kids. He writes every day. We all know how the mail thing goes- no mail on Saturdays but I send him letters anyway. My way of letting him know that I love him and miss him so much.

I write my husband every day and also try to send him a card at least once a week. Since I work 7 nights a week, I just drop the Sunday letter by the post office. He loves "mail call." He writes every day also because I too love to get his letters from the mail box. Whenever he runs out of things to write about, he writes about something from the past that just throws me for a loop everytime because I used to think he didn't remember some of the things we've said and done together. We've been together for 17 1/2 years and he always claimed his memory wasn't that good anymore, but I guess it's all returned to him now. Ha, Ha

sHAWTY 07-18-2003, 05:03 PM I write my baby a letter every single day, and sent them out so he gets a letter everyday and since the mail doesnt run on sundays i just make the letter longer then the ones that i send during the week... It is really hard to write so much because we talk 3 times a day.. but that will all change when me gets moved to the Federal Jail....
hollywoodhussy 07-21-2003, 02:18 PM I write everyday, sometimes twice and send cards as well. I make it a point to enclose a little extra occassionally like a picture or a drawing from our son. He writes me pretty much everyday and I know it is hard for him to write that much even since not a whole lot goes on in prison.
LeaAnn 07-21-2003, 04:37 PM I write once a week sometimes more it depends on what is going on and he gets cards on special occasions and vice versa.
ladybackinblack 07-21-2003, 10:03 PM I write Floyd once or twice weekly, sometimes more. And we always exchange cards on special occasions.
Yadi23669 07-22-2003, 02:29 PM I write to my man everyday. Since he does not have access to a phone that is the only way we can communicate. Before he left the county jail to the state prison we promised each other that we were going to write every single day and so far we both have kept our promise.
Dee72 07-22-2003, 07:59 PM Hello everyone at PTO! I write my boyfriend every day! I mail a letter almost everyday, if not then definetly the next day. I know how much the letters mean to him and anyone else on the inside!
nubiantwin 07-22-2003, 08:24 PM Well, initially, I wrote at least once or twice a week. Now, I find myself writing almost everyday. Sometimes twice a day. What's up with that?!
mirid 07-22-2003, 08:50 PM I write Joey everyday.....usually at least 2 letters once in the morning, and again in the afternoon after my mail runs, that way if he wrote me I can give him a response to his letter :) I also send him a card at least twice a week. I like to mix it up for him and he says all the other guys ask him, "where did he find a woman like me?" When I used to find change in the bottom of the washing machine, I'd throw it my swear jar, now I call it stamp money :)
Great idea about the stamp jar...I think I'll start one for myself because this is getting very expensive...Like you, I too write at least two letters a day and also send one card a day.
shawnswife 08-01-2003, 08:23 AM I write my husband every day and I receive a letter every day except Tuesdays because the institution doesnt send mail on Saturdays. We have been together for a year and have written like this from the beginning. But I am8 hours away so I only get to visit once a month. We talk on the phone every other day, if we could do collect calls it would be more often but the prison he is in, the inmate has to prepay his calls, they are $7.50 for 15 minutes.
CaLysBLondie 08-01-2003, 08:53 AM Wow! you guys are amazin ...i'm kinda worried to start writing i mean this is my first time with him ...and he went stright to prison. What do you write about? i feel like i should write like everything but than i feel like remindin him of the outside is bad(thats what a firend told me)....i have to add i love this site....i found it while lookin up the HBO SHOW OZ and trying to locate Caly when he went in ....you guys have helped a ton because i hve so many questions..
shawnswife 08-01-2003, 09:02 AM Reminding him of the outside isn ot bad at all, they want to remember what its like to do the everyday things, like go to WalMart. My husband and I write about EVERYTHING, from the kids, to our families, to whats going on in the news, how his classes are, some of the messed up things that heppen in there, EVERYTHING lol. Once you start, it will just keep coming.
CaLysBLondie 08-01-2003, 09:21 AM is it good to write him well he's in reception?
he's at Stateville in Joliet,IL
stimpy_27 08-01-2003, 09:24 AM i write everyday - that card idea sounds neat i might try that out
shawnswife 08-01-2003, 10:55 AM I can only speak for my relationship, but my husband lives for those letters, as I do. Its pretty much all we have as far as daily contact. Write him as often as you feel the urge. Trust me, he isnt going to complain about getting too much mail!!:)
CaLysBLondie 08-01-2003, 11:33 AM thanks you guys are the best!

Michaelswifey 08-01-2003, 11:16 PM I wrote Michael while he was in stateville reception and he will get it as long as hes there. Reception means he will be transferred to another prison probably within the next 2 weeks. If he has left by the time your mail gets there they will send it back to you. He gets one phone call while he is in reception. michael called around 6:30 pm. i dont know if it is the same for everyone? You can call the prison and talk to a counsler, and they might give you some info. If you need the # or anything else just PM me. Hope i helped...
shawnsgal 08-02-2003, 12:21 AM I write Shawn every night and send a card at least 3 times a week. Our children write him once a week and send him little drawings and things of interest to him like Nascar and hunting articles .I have had magazines sent to him and prison related material that i get from this site.He says it makes him feel like he's still in touch with whats going on outside the walls and he wont be as uncomfortable about coming home.I try to keep him up on hometown news and worldly topics too,I think it gives him more to think about than where he is....
decochick 08-02-2003, 02:54 PM I write every other day, 4 times a week. My letters are super long and full of goodies. Just yesterday, I mailed John a manila folder with 80 pages of PTO printouts, magazine/newspaper articles, emails, cards, pictures, music lyrics, etc....... Plus, I also send him books via Barnes and Noble and freebies that I find on the Internet.
The other inmates cannot believe all the stuff he gets since they don't get a thing but my awesome husband shares with the others.
Ramiahswife 08-03-2003, 07:33 PM I write my honey every day. He is my own personal journal. I also recieve a letter from him every day. I dont know how i would cope not hearing from him every day. I hate Sundays.
blacksgirl 08-06-2003, 12:03 PM I write everyday also. I always have something to say, he writes me everyday too. I also know he likes to be called for mail. lol
teresac 09-01-2003, 09:05 AM i write daily, but don't send them out daily. I send them out Mon., wed., and Friday so that he gets 2-3 letters a wk., but his letters are about 6 pages long
blueviolet 09-01-2003, 10:03 AM I write or continue to write in a letter every day and I mail a letter out at least 3-4 times a week, though it's a bit harder to do that now that I'm busy with school. I get about 3-5 letters a week from him. He's gotten very good at writing letters.
Blueviolet
MissOne 09-01-2003, 11:30 AM I write my baby everyday. In addition I have finally gotten him to return the favor. When those letters finally started to come at my heart daily i was in ecstacy (yea, some of the letters were freaky).
So do your man a favor and write him as often as possible (if not more).
AzGal 09-01-2003, 03:43 PM I write him at least once a week I always wait for his reponse before writing another letter. Sometimes if something has happened to me that I want to tell him I write him another letter but usually I just wait. He actually gets my letters the next day after I send them. And I also get his the next day after he sends him so I really don't have that long to wait between letters. I will usually always send him a card once a month just to let him know I care and bring a smile to his face.
mcantu 09-01-2003, 07:29 PM I write my husband everyday and he writes me everyday also. I'm living with my parents until he gets out and recently he put a very naughty letter in with the letter he sent to my mom. Boy was he embarrassed.
LesandAnthony 09-02-2003, 09:14 AM I write everyday.. throughout the day. I get 4 letters a week from Anthony. If I don't get at least 3 I start to worry....
melissa1977 09-02-2003, 10:50 AM Hi everyone!! Well when he first went in i wrote everyday!! And now i only write every couple of days! And the reason being we talk on the phone 2 times a day so i don't really have much to write about!
Melissa
mamawen 09-02-2003, 10:53 AM Well, when we first met, I wrote differently. I'd keep a "journal" and take it with me to school, work, whatever and send it out once or twice a week. At the time, he'd not had any outside contact for 4 years and I thought he'd enjoy some "outside time" with me. Now, that we are an "old married couple" LOL, I write a couple of times a week, but it's different now...it's more like "normal" conversations. You know? Kids, how someone at work pissed me off, when something good happens. And I still sort of "journal", except now, it's feelings about him/us, etc. I also send card every once in a while to spruce things up a bit.
Also, I don't know if any of you do this: but I have my husband send my letters/cards home every once in a while so he doesn't have to throw them out. I'm keeping everything for my book...that I keep promising to write one day...
:)
shell021001 09-02-2003, 12:16 PM I write every day, sometimes more than once a day. I always have at least 3 envelopes going out on Monday's. My daughters write him at least once a week also. Not only does he love to get mail every day, but honestly, it helps me to keep my sanity and lets him know what is going on in our lives on a day to day basis. Raising 3 teenagers is very hectic, and now that he is away from us, I like to keep him updated...
The most I have mailed out in one day was 7 things plus 3 from my daughter and her girlfriend. ( I know, I need to get a life, right?? :))
I also only write on one side of the paper, so when he gets overflowed with letters and has to get rid of them, he can write me back on the other side of them and mail them back home. (one way to get writing paper to your man ;))
Hugs,
Michelle
BryansGRRL 09-02-2003, 01:36 PM I write when I feel like it,but typically its daily and usually at least 5pgs long. I also write Bryan's brother at least 1/wk and 4 other penpals too....they call me the 'book writer':D lol
lorachad 09-02-2003, 09:35 PM i write my ol man each day. not a letter a day, but i just write a little here, and there. i fill him in on whats goin on etc. like talkin to him i guess. but i only mail um like once or twice a week. (stamps are expensive!). but they usually end up being like 20 pgs each! i cant have phone calls from him so its about as much talkin as we can do
AquaEyes 09-02-2003, 09:47 PM My b/f has only been gone a week and I have written 10 letters. lol A couple of those were cards. But I usually start a letter in the morning and put the time on it. And keep the letter going until night, putting the time of each time i came back to write more. That way he can feel like he is with me all day.
LilSun 09-03-2003, 04:00 AM I wish I could write him everday. Well, I actually do, but can`t send the letter to him. It`s too expensive for me to send a letter each day. So I send him one in a week, sometimes two.
But our letters are all pretty long, so that makes up for it a little. Only thing that drives me crazy is the messy mailsystem from here to USA. There were letters that took 3 weeks or even longer! If this isn`t cruel ....GRRR
mamawen 09-03-2003, 08:24 AM LilSun,
My husband and I are only 200 miles apart and it sometimes takes him 2 weeks to get my mail. You are right, the US post office is MESSY! :)
Wendy
Retired-5 09-03-2003, 08:42 AM i also write Josh all the time. i keep a notebook with me so i can jot down funny things that happen to me during the day. when Josh went in he had long dreads. he cut them and sent them home so whenever i go to a concert i take some hair with me. i also take him surfing on a regular basis! i'm going to have to make those dreads last for 5 more years! we are so in tune with each other that at times he writes to me and tells ME what i've done!?!
Babealicious 09-04-2003, 01:10 AM I write about four times a week, but I can't really afford it!
kenyattas_girl 09-04-2003, 11:15 AM I write my honey at least once a day. I often find myself sending multiple letters a day and sometimes even a card just to let him know that he is in my thoughts. I find that if I constantly write him, he will always have something to read and have to write me back also. If I keep his mind pre-occupied, he will more than likely stay out of trouble. He gets frustrated and agitated when he doesn't hear from me and normally that results in him getting into some type of trouble.
Preciousrain 09-04-2003, 11:23 AM Several times a day. Whenever I think of something I haden't previously said or thought. Or when I see something and I want to tell him about it....
sandra8376 09-04-2003, 02:34 PM I write probably 2-3 letters per day. Sometimes I only get one of them in the mail, but he gets something every day that the mail runs.
my-oreuh 09-04-2003, 08:23 PM I write my hunny 1 to 2 times a day...tellling him whats been going out here in this world of sin...:fb:
also weekends....and mail those on monday. He told me the other day that he received 5 at one time...I told him, dont think I walk around all day with a tablet and pen...even though I do! Especially because he just got locked up, and Im trying to adjust....It makes me feel closer to him.:D I guess im the one who needs to get a life..I even wrote him little letters while we were together all day so go figure!
I use to write every other day then once a weeek now I dont even know tht reason is he stop responding1
desperado 09-05-2003, 07:30 PM All I can say is I bet my mailman is thinking "this girl really loves her man".
darlia 09-07-2003, 03:34 AM I also write every day! I am sooo glad that I am not the only one. I dont know anyone else with a husband in prison or boyfriend! after moving away from our hometown i am all alone . I love pto it helps me with questions i didnt even ask yet. thank you d-soto
jcriccet 09-07-2003, 06:42 PM I also write daily. I want to share every part of my day with him so I write as things happen. He gets at least one letter a day and he loves it. I love keeping him happy. It's hard enough for them to be locked up. Trust me, I know! I would listen to all the guys moan and groan about how their "lady" doesn't write often enough. Getting mail makes their day.
jojo71 09-07-2003, 07:58 PM I write Damein everyday and try to mail him a letter everyday as well as silly cards every week- usually 1-4 cards. Also print him out info. I get off this site as well as song lyrics, artwork, and other stuff. He is my pen-pal of one year but we have progressed beyond the "pal" stage!!! I did a little six month stint and got NO mail from anyone so I know how important mail is!!! I always try to be positive even on those "bad" days because I am aware of all the negativity that goes on inside!!! As far as sex letters--- I do send him those on occasion just to give him some "relief!LOL!!!
BLESSED BE!!!!!!
Babealicious 10-13-2003, 06:48 PM I write every day now. :p
wewalkbyfaith 10-13-2003, 07:27 PM Hey I keep seeing that some of you write every day except Saturday or Sunday. My husband and I write special letters for the days the PO doesn't deliver. We write a Sunday letter and a Monday letter. We write on the envelope "Do not open until Sunday" or "Do not open until Monday". If there's a holiday, etc. It makes it so much better because then we get mail every day! It helps us!
mrskendrick2you 10-13-2003, 07:40 PM I used to write him once a week, but now I write a letter everyday to let him know what's going on with me, but i only mail twice a week. I mail the Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, letters on Tuesday, and the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday letters on Saturday! That way I can keep down on postage, but still let him know what is going on in "our world!" :)
shrty33 10-13-2003, 10:24 PM i write scottevery day, but there is a catch, u see i start a letter on monday and i might finish it by thursday. scott says he likes when i write him letters that start fom the time i wake up till i go to bed. i try not to do that to often now. i write him a letter then send it out. i told him i have a scott book that i write in now so when he gets out he can read it.
but basically the man gets 3 letters a week from me the mail just sucks at ISP.
dee
loveSunnyH 10-14-2003, 07:38 AM I write Charlie everyday, too. I mail Monday's letter on Tuesday, Tuesday's letter on Wednesday, etc. Beginning on Fridays I start a "weekend letter" that is usually about 15-20 pages, that I mail on Monday.
BrooklynVietnam 10-14-2003, 08:59 AM I write to Jamal once a week and he does the same...
strangeanimal 10-14-2003, 09:15 AM I write in one letter, everything that happened on the weekend and I mail it on Monday. Then I write another letter about the week and it's mailed on Fridays. My letters are about 10-20 pages long. I send him crosswords, newspaper articles, drawings and some of my homework and the kids as well.
larana76 10-14-2003, 03:07 PM First of all I would like to say Hi to everyone, this is my first time on here and it's wonderful to see how many people are going through the same thing I am, at times you feel like your the only one doing all these things but your not. I write to my honey Sun-Fri, and I still feel like it's not enough.... Best Wishes
Amy M. Jasso 10-14-2003, 11:09 PM I try to write to my boyfriend every other day and on Friday send him a card with a money order.
LovesInmate 10-14-2003, 11:58 PM My thing would be a journal letter, with a daily entry and then I would send it to him about every week.I use to write in him daily until I asked him yesterday if he got my letters, he said yes.
Then I asked him if he read them and he said no. He had the letters in his possesion for about 3-4 days already and he didn't even bother to open them. That hurt me, it felt like he wasn't enjoying my letters. So right now I don't feel like writting him.
If I do write to him he won't be getting it soon. He's only been in for 2 months and gots 10 to go so that might explain why he's not all into reading my stuff.
So far I've gotten only 1 letter from him. He said another one is on the way. I hope that that letter inspires me to write to him like I did.
I write to my Bear everyday! I get mail from him everyday, (smiles)
LUVFRNKH 10-24-2003, 05:34 AM every day there are certain things that I do. Wake up, brush my teeth, write Frankie. Not in that order, but I do it 7 days a week.
Neeophyte 10-24-2003, 05:49 AM I write daily. Sometimes, twice a day. Approximately 20-30+ pages. It's bad when you have to weigh your letters for postage, but writing is a good form of therapy :).
ranae 10-25-2003, 01:31 AM Everyday even Sunday just have to mail it with Mondays letter. This is something you might like to try.We write a Love I mean Love letter(ouch) to one another I write part mail it to him he adds to it and mails it to me and so on and so forth. Its great.
eddyswife39 10-25-2003, 04:44 PM I write my husband every single day, anywhere from 5 pages to 15 pages, sometimes more, depending on how much time I have or what I did that day (or if it's a weekend letter, those are real long!). I don't feel like I have no life, him and our son ARE my life! I want him to get a letter everyday, so he knows I'm always thinking of him and that I still love him. And I know how happy I am when I get letters from him, I can only imagine how it makes someone locked up with nothing to do feel! He's in Shawnee Correctional in Illinois and they are on 18-hour lockdown! I also make sure he gets lots of pictures of us (me & our son), and I'll print out jokes and stuff from the internet. My favorite was "You Know You're the Wife/Girlfriend of an Inmate If..." from a PTO forum! I know he got a kick out of that, cuz he knows those are so (sad) true of me! We can't help it, we LOVE our men!
Bookiesgril 10-29-2003, 04:08 PM I write Bookie every day some twice a day or more. I don't send them out on sunday. we do have a post office that's open 7day's a week but it's all the way out by the air port and I don't feel like driving all the way there. I've also gotten in the habbit of bringing a note book ever where I go *smile* If there is any free time through out the day. You will find me writing him. He send's me one once aweek sometimes twice. There are times when I recive two letters on the same day. I'm sure that he hasn't been reciveing any new ones due to the fire in CA. He's at Atwater USP
Phoenix 10-30-2003, 06:55 AM I use to write everyday but we slowed down cause he saves all my letters and his box was getting full so we just write when we recieve a letter witch is usally 3 to 4 times a week so we are good and he loves to write he always writes long romantic letters.......I have never seen a man with good hand writing and knows just what to say to make me smile in the first 2 lines of each letter.
bunnyrun5 10-30-2003, 08:36 AM I write every day! Maybe I'll skip a day or two, but I write him a lot. He needs the encouragement and to be involved in things going on at home. At least he can help me make decisions concerning our daughter and stuff. Besides, it fun!
Toodles!
tammy_cuddly242 11-25-2003, 11:51 PM hello i write to my honey twice a week and send cards i want him to feel like he is at home and he is not missing to much of our every day lives, i miss him so much this is so hard
bboyzgirl 12-03-2003, 08:24 AM I try to write my boyfriend 1-2 times a week. But sometimes i run out of things to say. his been gone a year now. what do say when you write every day?
Jakesgirl 12-03-2003, 04:25 PM This is just going to show how mych of a life that I dan't have...lol.....I write to Jake 3 times a day everyday. I tell him about what is going on at home ans with our daughter. I call his family and talk with them twice a week so then I tell him about what's going on with them. Other than that i suppose i just ramble. I also send him a card and jokes or something like that everyday. So as you can all see I need a life.
bfawayinpa 05-08-2004, 06:33 PM i write once a week. we talk on the phone too so my letters can be short compared to his sometimes. i write small and he writes bigger. i try not to tell him stressful things like work because he's already stressed out.
