My brother has been in jail for about a year now. He got addicted to ICE. He was convicted of possesion. He took a plea of 10 years. His wife is also in jail for the same charge. My brother got his grid sheet and his tentative paole date is 12/07. I do not know much about this. I have a question Can this date change? This is his first conviction. I do not know what to do to help him. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

Thanks

I dont know the answer to your question, but hopefully someone will come along and be able to help you.
In the meantime, just let us know if he was convicted in Georgia or which state, since the procedures and laws can be different and that would help anyone who could help you.

Hi and Welcome to PTO!!...I will only speak from my experience, but the TPM can change at any time....but it is usually accurate. (although not always, my man has a TPM of june/2005 and he is still in prison!) It seems pretty favorable if he took a 10 yr plea....the TPM seems to suggest that he will parole out after 3 yrs. not bad for a 1st conviction of drug possession. Georgia is really getting tough about ice, coke, etc. The TPM is just what it says: tenative....
As far as helping him....just be there for him, and try to access the resources that he can't to help his case or to answer his questions. Check out the dept. of corrections site and compare the TPM there to what his grid sheet says. (dcor.state.ga.us) and talk to his counselor. Please feel free to PM me anytime. Good luck.
