View Full Version : Stupidest comment you have heard! (regarding your IR relationship)
e_wife03 07-14-2005, 01:17 PM Share some of memories of the stupidest comments you have heard from obvious ignorant ppl..
I havent heard anything when i am with my husband but as most of you know we had our daughter after he went in... Well once i was breastfeeding her at her dr's office (she was covered). When this white couple approached me and asked me if that was my child... I was like WHAT? They repeated the question and so i told them that NO i found her in the waiting room and she looked hungry so i decided to feed her.. they went and told the dr he came out and was like " Oh i knew you were talking bout Jillian just by what you said her response to you was." He then said yes that is her child.. and she is crazy so i suggest you dont say anything else to her about this or any other of the patients .. "

kreepsgirl 07-14-2005, 03:57 PM My daughter is mixed with white and black. When I was with my friend who happens to be black at the mall one day a lady came up to her ((my friend)) and said "Oh your daughter is so cute!" Talking about my daughter and she said "Umm that's her daughter." People are so damn ignorant somtimes!
columbusohio 07-14-2005, 03:57 PM I am a white man, have a (very noticeably) mixed son. One time an african guy I work with saw him and says "He's cute, is his mother african-american??" My response: No, blond hair, blue eyes, but she swears up and down he's mine. It took the guy an hour to figure out I was joking. Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies.
vanilla_flayme 07-14-2005, 06:41 PM LMFAO @ columbusohio
lilithinwaiting 07-14-2005, 07:12 PM When my granddaughter who is bi racial was born , her mother had her on the couch while she went to rest room and a neighbor came in and said,"is that a white baby and isn't your daughter white" Yea, dumb ass, she is white and this baby is bi racial because the father is black.
Then my all time favorite is when people ask my grandaughter , What are you?
I am dark haired and dark eyed and am alway mistaken for being Latin and am always asked the same thing, What are you? LOL
e_wife03 07-14-2005, 10:09 PM Kreepsgirl - i get that all the time when i go out with my cousin's wife who happens to be from el salvador.. she always rolls her eyes and says something smart. like no the woman she is calling mommy is her mother..
columbusohio- that is too funny.
lilthinwaiting- some ppl know the answer but want to ask anywayz.. they just dont know how stupid they sound.
natesgal 07-14-2005, 10:21 PM I have never really had people make stupid comments, thank god, knowing me i would just smile, even though i would want to be a smart butt!
kreepsgirl 07-15-2005, 10:16 AM ewife- how funny! people who make dumb remarks should get one in return!
Jomali 07-15-2005, 10:32 PM I will tell you the stupidest comments I have and its not just from one person, I have a spanish boyfriend, people ask how do you talk to him. HELLO spanish people can speak english too.
Rostonhall 07-17-2005, 02:11 AM I was standing outside the waiting room talking to another woman when I saw Tony going up the stairs to the visiting room so, as you would, I said 'Oh! There's my husband, I'll be called soon.' Her reply was 'But he's black!!' Sorry, my humour took over because I said in a very loud, very English voice 'Thank you for telling me that I'm so colour blind I had no idea.'

BobbysGirl2005 07-21-2005, 08:55 AM The stupidest comment or I should say question is " Is he mixed" Can you believe that I was at the mall and my moms friend was holding my son, she has a much fairer complextion then mine. I just looked at the lady with the craziest face. She just walked away. By the way I am white and my man is hispanic, our son lokks nothing like me.
Hope4US 07-23-2005, 06:26 PM When me and my man were first together and ex-friend of mine had the nerve to ask:
"Girl, how do you deal?"
"Deal with what" I asked
"With a man who has a small D-"
 !!! (my man is white)
I then told this chick that people like her are the reason that stereotypes never die. Also who the hell was she to be getting all in my business about stuff like that. Besides that, it's not the size that counts really..it's what you do with it.LOL
prici 07-23-2005, 11:40 PM My husband (boyfriend at the time) and I were at a gas station in Denver. He was walking out of the store and these two black females were checking him out and making cat calls at him. He didn't pay attention. Then they saw him get in a car with me. One of the girls yelled, "You go OJ!" This was around the time OJ was going down for his ex-wife's murder. He leaned over and kissed me, while flipping them off, then he drove off and said "You only wish."
kreepsgirl 07-24-2005, 12:54 AM I have another one. This is from a kid who couldnt know any better but it was still funny. It was Halloween and a kid that goes to school with my daughter came to our house to trick-or-treat. He saw me, my mom, and my grandma who are all white and said to my daughter-she answered the door- "Oh, are you in foster too?" I'm assuming he meant foster care cause we are all white and she is black!
Terrysgurl 07-24-2005, 02:38 AM I think the dumbest thing I ever was told is that I was "much to pretty" to date a black man...WTF does that mean???
nightbird 07-24-2005, 04:52 AM My daughter who dates black men was told that it will only be a matter of time before they beat her a**. Also she was told all black men have Aids and she was going to get it too. She doesn't get mad she thinks people are idiots and considers the source. This is the FUNNIEST, she has had friends over and when I checked the history on my internet I found out they were going on porn sites, first tried to deny it and all, turns out her friend wanted to see if a black man had a black ding dong. I told them not to go on the sites anymore, but had a good laugh about it. Trip out...
flygirlaa2 07-31-2005, 02:01 PM Stupidest thing I ever heard, boy that is a hard one because I have heard some serious ignorance. But the whole, no white man will want you after a black man has had you thing. Oh Pahleeease! I wish to God it were true, it would save me from having to deal with half the men that come on to me.
Tojo&Mar 07-31-2005, 02:04 PM That so funny. My daughter is mixed. I'm white and he's black and she came out just beautiful. People do ask me, "Is she mixed?" Like no dumb a@$, I just like to perm her hair...... DAAAA
StormyNites 07-31-2005, 02:47 PM My son is light skin, his dad is hispanic, black, and american indian. Some one said to me your sons father must have been white, he looks "kinna mixed" ( like i dont know who his father is) I replied well I be JOHN BROWN, i didnt even notice*mean look*
tattoodiva 07-31-2005, 10:37 PM My husband is black and I am white, most people don't say anything to our faces cause he is big and I look like a mean punk rocker but I have heard a couple of things. A guy I used to date asked me if it would bother me that if we had babies they wouldn't look like me at all and so it would be like they weren't even my babies. I told him it could be worse they could look like his ugly ass. I can't believe someone I dated turned out to be that ignorant! I have a tee shirt that says "I am sick and tired of white boys" and that one really gets me some reactions from white guys, mostly give me a night and I will change your mind... It is fun to wear. I am pregnant right now with my first baby and I don't think I will be able to keep my mouth shut if people say **** about my baby. They are probably just jealous cause she will be more beautful then thier kids.
vardi 08-03-2005, 11:19 AM I couldn't stop laughing reading your post... you make a point with your answer Jillian!!! How people can be so stupid to ask silly questions. My husband faced the same kind of situation, with a doctor last week who asked him where he came from since his first name isn't that common "ILAN", and he told the doctor "well, you know I'm the pointed nose type guy.. a real Jew!!!". Hugs, Catherine
DENIMBLUE 08-03-2005, 03:12 PM ..."your boyfriend is colored?"
I feel like getting out the crayola crayons and picking a color!
e_wife03 08-03-2005, 03:22 PM Here is another one i seem to be wearing a sign that says please say something stupid to me!! We were at the dr office and a lil boy asked me is that your daughter and i was like umm yeah she is .. so he paused for a minute and you see him looking at her and looking at me .. then he asks did you know she was white.. I thought to myself are you serious... but i was polite and thanked him for informing me cause i didnt know why she was so pale.. he blurts out is that why you are at the dr to see if she what was wrong with her skin? i turned to his mother and said you have done a real good job raising you son(scaristic as possible) keep it up... the lil boy was 5 yrs and that is really sad...
RMD4EVER 08-09-2005, 09:40 AM ewife i like the story about the breast feeding lol i have never had any experience with anyone coming up to me and saying anything about my children but if i ever did i know me and my mouth lol i have 3 beautiful bi racial children a son 21 in the navy as fine as he can be a beautiful 19 year old and a 11 year old daughters and a handsome bi racial grandson who is a year and a half i am white and my fiance is black and who is the finest man in the universe god bless you all!!!!
My man is black, I am white, but since we met with him inside and he is still inside, the comments I get have to do with him being an inmate, not his race. I don't think anyone who knows me dares go there. one sister made a comment about "ruining my life". hah! I already had a short marriage for 3 years , 32 years ago, went right into another relationship and got pregnant before I broke up with him. I've stayed single the last 24 years!! lol really it is too funny.
I had C and T's siblings as foster kids. Their brother was 17, very dark, 6/2 and 190 pounds when he moved in with me. I also had their 13 yr old biracial sister. Racism was much more overt with my foster son. He was trying to get a job, and I took him around various places to leave applications. He was helping me look for ladders, and we took an application at our local hardware. a few days later I was there alone, and asked about his application. the white young man there said to me "we have enough people who don't know how to do their jobs". I was P*ssed. I said no one knows how to do a job until they have been taught to do it!! Later I asked to talk to the owner and he said that was a part time college student and had already been fired. People questioned his honesty and integrity in a way I seldom had experienced. He was kind of scatter brained. he locked his bike up to a tree when he worked at the state fair and then lost the lock key. after days of hounding him to check at work, etc, I went there with him, with something to cut it. as a white woman I am just not used to people questioning me much! this man stopped and questioned us. I said "this is my son and it is his bike, bug off". pretty soon an officer was there questioning us and took a report! when I let him practice drive my truck when he just had a permit, I had a black young lady lean over at a stop light and ask him "is that your woman?". I could have died. I'm sure he was very insulted as I was 54 then. He said "no that's my mom".
last summer his brother T got a pass from parole for a month and came and stayed with me. He helped me with project home at our church several nights. It is overflow shelter for homeless families. the little boys flocked to him like a magnet. One little boy about 5 asked me about him. I said he's my son! He looked at me funny and said "he doesn't LOOK like you!!" we laughed.
I found it easy to get an "attitude" and kind of "be on guard" with experiences with my foster son especially. I found I preferred going to stores with black clerks as they seemed more comfortable. I had mentored black and native families before, and was a social worker for foster parents and foster kids of all races. The experience of being a parent to a black male was totally different and surprised me. It was really an education in racism.
e_wife03 08-15-2005, 10:24 PM one thing that i can say is that no matter where we go whether they say it out loud orr to them selves or to the ppl they are with .. ignorance is always their and no matter the race there is always an ignorant in the bunch..
PattiD1157 08-15-2005, 10:48 PM My future mother in law takes pictures of my granddaughter and shows them off to people. I am white and my MIL is black. Well my granddaughter is white also. Shows everyone her great granddaughter. The looks she says she has gotten would be to die for. I will have to send her pictures of her "great grandson" also so she can continue. She is always telling me about when she goes out and this boyfriend or that one.... She could put a sailor to shame I think. Love her dearly, but anything that comes out of her mouth shouldn't surprise me, but it does. She keeps me in stitches when we are talking on the phone. I know if someone said something to her just one time about the racial thing...they would never say anything to anybody again. They would go to their grave wondering if they really did hear what she said right. LOL
TheGeneralsWife 08-17-2005, 03:57 PM I'm mixed with Black, Sicilian and Mexican and my husband is Black and Cherokee so when I was in the hospital giving birth to our daughter, my husband was in prison and my dad was there with me the whole 23 hours and 52 minutes I was in labor with her stubborn ass and the whole time I was in the hospital. I am Daddy's Baby Girl! So we had these Filipino nurses and you know they come in checking on things and gospiing trying to pass the timeaway. They had NO CLUE that my father was a Lt Col in the Air Force and we had spent years living in Manilla and Subic Bay and we all speak Tagalog fluently so the older nurse looks at my dad, looks at me ( and I look white) and looks at my baby and they start talking to each other in Tagalog about how this old ass pervert ruined my life because after people find out I had a baby by an old Black guy who will want me? So in Tagalog my dad tells her that he didn't ruin me and that I was married so that is who will want me and I am his baby and that didn't he have the most beautiful granddaughter in the world? I think the fact that we spoke Tagalog floored them and they didn't know what to say after that. But by the time I left the hospital 3 days latter they were gossiping with my dad like old chickens and my baby was real sick so she satyed for 11 days and they always paid special attention to her whiel she was there. It started out bad but it endded good.
lost_princess 08-24-2005, 07:49 PM my man is black and my neice and nephew are blonde with blue eyes and he has a pic of them in his wallet and showed it it someone at work and they looked at him like he lost his mind. then thay saw me and my neice talking to him and asked my neice who he was and she said "my chocolat uncle duane" .
e_wife03 08-30-2005, 02:03 AM that is too cute princess.
babieboo 08-31-2005, 12:58 PM When my granddaughter who is bi racial was born , her mother had her on the couch while she went to rest room and a neighbor came in and said,"is that a white baby and isn't your daughter white" Yea, dumb ass, she is white and this baby is bi racial because the father is black.
Then my all time favorite is when people ask my grandaughter , What are you?
I am dark haired and dark eyed and am alway mistaken for being Latin and am always asked the same thing, What are you? LOL
LOL!! i get that too. some people just dont know how to say whats really on their minds. its crazy.
Jamiesheart 08-31-2005, 01:52 PM I'm not in an IR relationship, but I had to share this with you guys. I was with a girlfriend at the park the other day. We were watching her 2 kids play. She is white but she has a black son. Her oldest son is white and her youngest some is mixed. Well, her youngest son looks more like her than the older son. Anyhow, we were getting them ready to go and this woman asked my friend was she babysitting. She said no that's my son. You could have knocked that woman over with a feather. All we could do was laugh.
Preacher'sWife 09-03-2005, 03:55 AM THIS IS MY FAVORITE ok... HERE GOES>>> "I AM NOT RACIST I HAVE BLACK FRIENDS..." You can clearly see this person doesn't see COLOR
jayloshort 09-03-2005, 10:14 AM I just wanted to share my 2 cents. I'm white and my boyfriend is mixed (mom/white & dad/west indies) and is pretty dark. We have a 2 year old together, Jayden has white-blonde hair and piercing sky blue eyes! Both his dad and i have dark hair and my eyes are green....go figure. My boyfriend calls Jayden our "white chocolate".
monirock 09-03-2005, 09:01 PM one i've heard a couple of times is that i hate my own race and that my parents didn't raise me right. i usually laugh that one off since it's so insane.
Good grief.. I could start a list a mile long, but a will stick with some of the finer ones...
1. In WalMart with my mother and this little old lady looks at my daughter and says "How kind of you to adopt a child like that." (First child)
2. I attended a prodominantly black church for many years...Black woman says "Looky here we got us a little chocolate drop" and proceeds to pick her up like she was diseased. Mind you she was three weeks old and the lady use nothing but her finger tips to snatch her up. (First child)
3. Shopping at the grocery and this woman walks up on just married new husband and says how wonderful of you both to adopt a little drug baby or is it a Figian Indian? Like it mattered? (Second child)
4. My kids are walking down the street and these kids start hassling the oldest about their little brother who is light skinned saying "No way that is not your brother, you can't be related to a white kid, your black!" Hello they know me and last time I checked the mirror I was a dark skinned white woman....(Third child)
I have hundreds more...
marj_barrington 09-05-2005, 05:59 PM Oh i have alot, omigod i dunno how i survived without leaving any dead bodies but here's one:
During my first month in the United States (im from the Philippines) my husband is working infront of the house when a Pakistani neighbor came by with her heavy pakistan accent saying "this must be your wife" and i smiled, introduced myself and offered my hand saying "hi, my name is marjorie, yes im his wife, how are you?" then she asked "do you know how to speak english?"
babimomma5 09-06-2005, 11:43 AM LOL most peolple can't tell my daughter is mixed cuz she is all me, red hair and all. The only thing from dad is her eyes and curls. But ppl will ask if shes mine.... UH No I bought her on Ebay. Or "is her hair naturely curly?" No I perm my 1 yr olds head. Or "is that natural red hair?" No I dye mine and do hers too so ppl will believe me. The ignorance has forced to lower myself and start telling ppl "here's your sign"!!!!
dallaswife2b 09-06-2005, 12:41 PM Yes, i haven't had many comments just alot of cold stares from black female friends they feel there is a shortage on good black men well i feel their is a shortage on good men period. from my non black friends they ask if he's [Dallas] black I said well he didn't get that tan from the beach :haha: we don't care what people think we know we love one another
marj_barrington 09-06-2005, 01:48 PM I am so embarrassed and sorry to hear that TheGeneralsWife, i am from the Philippines and i lived inside an airforce base in Manila (Villamor Airbase) on a Generals house too, they adopted me during my stay in Manila cause i work there and i can't afford my own place yet.
Yes i know the culture and stereotype, filipino's are crazy about fair skin, if you noticed tanning lotion dont sell there, everything has whitening! I am proud of my color and i find it sad that people don't see that beauty. I grew up in a vilage in a province called Pampanga, i brought my husband there to introduce him to my family so he know where i came from and all that. When they found out i am marrying an american they're all expecting a white guy, when they saw he's black they're like "huh?" and in their tone basically saying "there's nothing special about this guy, he look just like us" or something to that effect if you know what i mean. They're stereotype is anyone white is an american and anyone black is from Africa kind of thing. They do discriminate you too as to how dark or fair you are, the lighter skin gets more favor. But the fact he's from US and he has dollars well you know... money talks so he gets VIP treatment and all for a couple of bucks but i didn't like it, i hope they grow out of the colonial mentality and stereotypes which they should have already outgrown considering the diversity of every culture.
I went through the same crap when i got here in the states, people ask if i speak english, if i know how to use a microwave and oven, if filipino's speak english too and if there's this and that in the Philippines (you know stupid questions). My husband is insulted cause he knows where i came from and i am no nobody back home, i just told him don't worry about it, they are either not well traveled and ignorant or they've been watching too much national geographic where other countries have little representation and they still feature our locals with tribes and clothes made of leaves and sheep skin living on a mountain.
I just said "dogs bark at people they don't know".
MrsSweets 09-07-2005, 12:36 AM Great thread, Jillian!
My stories are not really about an IR reltionship but about pre-conceived ideas and ignorant people :D
My fiance was once talking to his cell mate about me and he said I was from Brazil. The guy goes "is she black?" --> why do they think there are only blacks in Brazil? Anyway, my fiance goes "no, she's blonde. She has czech and russian roots" and he goes "does she see monkeys and snakes on the streets in Brazil?" --> good Lord! :haha:
Now, from my side I hear lots of questions but the stupidest of all is "is he really american?" and when I say yes they ask "how do you talk to him?"
Um...Morse Code
barons lady 09-09-2005, 09:49 PM  i was asked " how do you have sex with a black man" by my grandmother, i just said the same way you have sex with a white man. what a stupid question
Leah67 09-12-2005, 08:00 AM Sad but true the funniest thing I ever heard came out of my own mothers mouth. I grew up in a very small rurual area that was all white. It just happened that way. Therefore my mother had limited interaction with african americans.
So I met my husband we fell in love got engaged and called to let her know and to talk to him so we could plan a trip for her to meet him.
I informed her he was black as I was not sure her reaction to that, and she talked to him
Then I get back on the phone and she told me I should not have teased her about him being black. because he didn't sound black
I dropped the phone and starred blankly at it for a minute before picking it back up and asking her what exactly black sounded like.
Then she comes to visit me and my now hubby go to pick her up at hte iar port and I introduce her to him and her response is that I was taking the joke to far and she wanted to know where my fiance was because the guy she talked to on the phone just was not black..
Thank goodness she figured it out and she adores him and finally realizes he is black.
NessaBellex4 09-12-2005, 09:42 AM My daughter who is hispanic came home her first day of first grade and told me that this 5th grader had told her that she needed to go back to Mexico because it was where she was from... My dd came home crying and I told her to go and tell that little girl that you are where you came from because you were born in washington state. Now what I really wanted to go and do is find out where her parents lived and straighten it out with them. She has on more than one occasion said she was sad because she is brown (she gets very brown during summer months) and the other girls in her class are white... I just laugh at her and we talk about it. I tell her listen Isabelle you just wait until you are in high school those white girls are going to be soooo jealous because you have a perma tan all year round. We also joke because I am the only minority in our family. So the kids call me "La Gringa".
People can be sooo stupid sometimes.
InLuvWithD 09-17-2005, 12:04 AM hahahaha too funny I love the heres your sign guy....people really can be ignorant!!!!
kg4ujg 09-18-2005, 03:42 AM Unfortunately the most stupid racial slur I've ever heard came from my own mother. We are from a really rural area where everyone is white...ZERO other races. Well, when my mom found out i was dating a black man she told me she didn't mind if I was friends with him, but that it was "a sin" to have sex with a someone of another race because the Bible says we shouldn't mix. I looked at her and said, "Mom, wasn't Grandpa half Cherokee"?
JuJuBean 09-21-2005, 09:19 PM My friend GiGi is white -- like me, glow-in-the-dark white with blond hair. Her son Derek's father was black (I say "was" because he disappeared before Derek was born and Gigi has no idea where he is).
When Derek was a year old Gigi met Joe, who is very obviously (and I must say gorgeously) latino. She and Joe fell in love and got married, and Joe adopted Derek. Since he was around from the time Derek was just a sprout, Derek calls him Daddy of course.
Now I know biracial children come in all combinations of colors but Derek is so dark that people are always startled to find out he's got a white parent. Especially in summer when he's out in the sun, you'd swear that kid didn't have a caucasian bone in his body.
So we were at a bbq over Labor Day and one of Joe's buddies was there who hadn't seen him in awhile (these guys are all military) and Joe introduced his buddy to Gigi -- you know, "This is my wife," and "Pleased to meet you," etc. And then up comes Derek running from the yard yelling "DADDY, DADDY!" And Joe picks him up and says "Oh, and this is my boy Derek."
His friend's jaw dropped with a thud. The guy stared for a second and then blurted "Where did you get HIM?"
Without missing a beat, Joe said "Ebay."
I laughed so hard I spit beer all over both of them. :D

Tell joe he gets alot of props for staying on his toes and coming out with an answer for those stupid ppl
kflores 10-09-2005, 12:51 AM My daughter is mixed with white and black. When I was with my friend who happens to be black at the mall one day a lady came up to her ((my friend)) and said "Oh your daughter is so cute!" Talking about my daughter and she said "Umm that's her daughter." People are so damn ignorant somtimes!
The same thing happened to me in reverse. I'm black/Puerto Rican and my baby is half white and when she was younger she was very light. People would go up to my Mexican friend and say oh she's soooooo cute and she would tell them it was my daughter. Then to add insult to injury, they would ask if her daddy was Mexican and I would say no he's WHITE and they'd roll their eyes and say oh, mumble something, and walk off. It's really f*****g annoying!
Amy1970 10-09-2005, 12:56 AM I will tell you the stupidest comments I have and its not just from one person, I have a spanish boyfriend, people ask how do you talk to him. HELLO spanish people can speak english too.
LMFAO this happens to me too. I also have twins (boy and girl). I was at the store once and a lady asked me if they were identical. I looked at her and said "NO. One has a penis and the other doesn't." She just turned red and walked off.
Ok the last part doesn't pertain to IR's...

Brent's Mom 10-10-2005, 02:19 PM I am Mexican, indian and German, I took after my mothers side dark complected with almost black eyes and dark hair. My brother and sister were the same and when we were small people use to ask my mother if she was baby sitting as than we didn't have her traits. I'm so proud that as we grew we took after her and I'm very proud of my mexican and indian traits! Now my grandchildren are doing the same. I have always gone by chicano and indian as I know more about that background than I do the German. My father wanted to be chicano himself and would often tell people he was. You are what you are and should always be proud as none of us are any better than the next person that is what I was tought. Be all you can be and walk proud!!!! And your children will too!!!
RavenDemoines 10-19-2005, 10:26 PM Whenever my mum would come to school for me (if i was in trouble etc.) she would go up to the office and they would either be expecting some black lady or a mexican lady to walk in (im half black and white). once the office person said (and I was the only kid in the office) "we called her up, so she'll be here soon". My mum's like "she's right there! I can see her!" Apparently they weren't smart enough to connect the fact that I had told them i was waiting for my mum, and that the white woman coming to pick up her child WAS MY mum.
mamicita 10-21-2005, 05:34 AM well my man and his sister was split up since they were only like 5...anyways after years of searching...he finally finds her...her phone number" thanks to me"....i call..and explain i am her brother's wifey...so she says well asks..." what are u mix with?"
im like...how can someone ask that on the phone....itz not like we are in person!....i thought that was kind of dumb....
satOsz wifey 10-22-2005, 03:21 PM I'm white, and my man is Hispanic (Colombian), apparently he had started talking to his boys about me, as they all referred to me as the "white girl." All the guys told him, you are spanish, stick to your own kind, don't switch over. And according to his mother who was visiting him, he said "she's white, not a dog, not an animal. I am dating my kind--human" His mother and him were laughing for years. I smiled when I heard that one
JENNOONIE 10-22-2005, 03:43 PM When i was in labor with my daughter (in 99) My best friend was in the delivery room with me and he is black they automatically thought he was the father of my child when she came out the nurse's jaw dropped open and looked at him and said sir i'm sorry and just gave me this evil look. He looked right at her and said oh my gosh this child who isnt mine to begin with looks nothing like me! I cant believe it! He is a proud gay man and extremely dramatic so he loved his little performance and i will tell you one thing by the time i left i got an appology!
sweets79 10-22-2005, 03:48 PM My husband is black and I am white and we were going out of town one weekend well we stopped at a gas station and this guy who my husband knows but really doesn't like came up to him and was talking to him. Well he asked what he was doing with that white girl and my husband said "what do you mean that's my wife" and the guy said you better watch that around here if you don't want to get jumped and my husband said I am not worried about that we have been togeather for 11 years and always lived in this town so everyone knows us and that we are togeather. So he then tells my husband well I f**k black girls too but I don't bring them in public ! It took everything I had to get my husband off of him and everytime he seen him he wanted to beat his a$$. But we ended up laughing about later on some people are just so ignorant.:blah:
I just had a really nasty and rude comment from a CO while I was on the phone tonight.
My man called me and we were discussing our visits in February, when hopefully we will be getting married.
He was busy telling me what he'd like me to wear to visit and generally chatting and the CO comes along and say's loudly, 'Are you talking to your wife?' And he's like 'Yeah, why?' and the CO say's 'Tell her she better not dress too sexy when she comes up here, after all, she's white and you're not!'
I'm sat there saying 'WTF?'' Put him on the phone and I'll tell him what I think of his damn smart mouth.' And Alex is saying not to worry, they aren't all like that, take no notice, but it bothers me.
None of us are any better than the next person, it's just the race we are born into.We should all be proud of our heritage, not made to feel inferior or different.
It's people like that small minded CO that make problems in the world.
If we hadn't been granted extra visit's, Alex would have gone off on him and for what? Pure ignorance on the guards part.

I'm not trying to be a condescending b***tch, but topics like this one just keep the whole racist ball rolling. It's not an issue unless we allow people to make it an issue. My husband (black) and I (white) are Americans....it's just that simple.

If you are referring to one of the threads in this forum.. Obviously you didnt read it.. The person just wanted to know if there were any problems with interracial couples that anyone has dealt with in texas.. She wasnt trying to start a thread "to get the racist ball rolling"
RaysGirl78 11-30-2005, 10:37 AM I don't think this keeps the "racist ball rolling." Racists do that all on their own. This is a place for us involved in an IRR to vent and share stories with one another, pure and simple. Us discussing what someone else has done, doesn't not perpetuate the problem, it helps us get it off of our chests and heal. It also helps others to recognize the ignorance in society. I agree, Ray and I are no different. We are both human beings and that is all the matters, unfortunately part of society doesn't see it that way, they see him as black and me as white.
chuysgal 11-30-2005, 12:14 PM Has anyone else ever heard somebody say it's against the Bible? Well, I have and I always respond with....Well, I guess we better not have kids then because our child would be going against the Bible no matter what race he or she chose to be with.
If that were true, God wouldn't allow differen't races to procreate with each other. Duh! Kerri
Cinco's lady 12-16-2005, 11:24 AM Well one time a hispanic girl told my man, 'Why are you with that white girl, when you could have a girl like this... (referring to herself)" He just busted out laughing and said, obviously you haven't seen my white girl, I'd pick her anyday over you... aww... :p

Actually....yes I have...many, many times. They always refer to where it talks about staying with your "own kind" what they don't realize is we ARE with our "own kind"...humans...it's not like we are with animals or something (which is what it is referring to). You just have to shake it off... LOL
mrssunnyb 01-10-2006, 09:49 AM My husband decided that I deserve to get my nails done (a habit I now can't be without). He was so patiently waiting for me to get done, and everyonce in a while we would look at each other and smile, or wink. Well these 2 african women walked in and sat about a chair away from him. They started talked about my husband as if he werent sitting there. Oh girl, he is fine and that he was a good helping of a black man (what ever that meant). Well they saw the ring on his finger and commented about it because I hooked my husband up. They were wondering about his wife. Well I was done and I got up and walked over to him and he gave me a kiss as he always does. You should of heard them then. Oh you went that way. What a waste. Then one of them made a comment about him being married, so I did what every girl would do. I flashed my 10 carat Princess Cut Yellow and White Diamond Eternity Band with a 2 carat total Princess Cut solitaire ring:drool: (with baguettes, spelling might be wrong) at them and said in my kindest voice that yes he was married.

myswtpeachez 02-20-2006, 04:24 PM While I was working a new girl saw a pic of my kids(who are clearly black) on my desk, she got real excited and said "You have biracial children? I have biracial children too!" I just looked at her like she was stupid...she must have thought we were bonded for life.

Could be she needs a friend and made an over-zealous remark. She's probably got her own share of stories... seeing the pics of your kids maybe she felt she had found a kindred spirit.
It doesn't instantly make you "best friends", of course, but maybe she needs someone she can talk with.
Just an thought -- no offense intended.
As far as the thread's topic, I haven't really committed to memory any stupid-a** remarks made by other people -- just "STARES" and disapproving "looks."
litilady 02-23-2006, 08:00 AM my best friend is a white girl whose ex is black... we were at the store together with all of the kids one day and the cashier asks my friend what agency did she adopt her kids from. my friend was like excuse me? they are my kids i had them! now her two daughters look exactly like their mom. except of course their skin is a little bit darker.
i also worked a couple of times with this girl, we worked on different floors so we didn't work together just a couple of times. both times she made it a point to come up to me, grap my hand and look me in the eyes and say, my husband is black so that makes our daughter bi racial. i was like yeah so your point.
allicat1227 02-24-2006, 03:46 PM I had a coworker tell me that my kids will be confused. I also had someone ask me if my husbands skin wipes off dirty when he bathes. Some real idiots.

Ive heard people say that dumb s*** about kids being confused...thats so ignorant to say. and as for the person that said asked about your husbands skin when he bathes...I would have told the person as a matter of fact it did and now hes white, can you believe it?.... what an a**. Some people come up with some crazy stuff.

scbydru 02-26-2006, 11:22 PM After my oldest son (his father is black) was born I took him to my job to show him off. One of my co-workers looked at him and said, "Oh thank God, he's really light."
I was light thank God for who, for what? She just said that people won't know he is biracial then. I just told her that I really couldn't care less whether people knew or not. It's funny though. My son is 11 years old. He has straight black hair, has a light, olive complexion and dark brown eyes. His name is Megale (pronounced like Miguel). It's funny because people think that he is Latino and try to speak to him in Spanish. He gets really confused and just stands there. It's really funny to watch. He just says, "Mom, why do people ask me if I am Puerto Rican?"
I just tell him that because he is so cute every race wants to claim him. :D

rmorgan14760 02-28-2006, 06:24 PM I am a white woman dating a black man.I am a cosmetologist and work with many different types of people some of which still think like it was 50 yrs. ago. A girl I worked with has a black husband and three beautiful chilodren and, few of my clients have made unacceptable comments. I did not say a word but, when they returned the next time I made sure my boyfriend made an appearance. I hugged him and told him I loved him so they would know. Not another comment was ever made and, all clients returned! Don't speak before you know!
10reubensfiance 03-30-2006, 10:37 AM My fiance is not the father of my first 2 children, yet he is more of a dad to then than their "real" father, well anyway, my first 2 children are blonde hair blue eyes, and my fiance (who is black) and i took my oldest child to the doctor one day, (which i might ad i have took my son there alot) and when the doctor came in, he shook my fiance's hand and said hello dad. and asked me who i was? My son looks just like me. (at least everyone says so) and my fiance is very dark. I just looked at the doctor like what the h**l. My fiance said to the doctor, I'm the first black guy in the world to give birth to a child and can you believe it he's white! The doctor just stood there in shock. It was so funny. There is not mistaking my boys for being anything but white, but people still say some stupid stuff about my fiance being the dad and me NOT being the mother.
I wonder sometimes if people are really that stupid!!!
