Hi, new to the board here so here is some info. My brother recently was sentenced to 15 years for meth charges. He is currently in P.B Diagnostic center, but will go to Cummmins (he thinks). I live in NY so it is difficult for me to find out anything regarding policies and etc. So 2 things, does anyone have any info on Cummins (good or bad) and 2, I was wondering if anyone new the policy on paroling to another state? When he ios eligible for parole he wouldlike to be able to leave AR. and be paroled out to my mother in Texas. Is this possible? ANy information would be helpful.
Also, I checke dout a book that is very good called The Crime of Punishment, it is about the injustice of "justice". I recommend it.

Hi cfareyx3 and welcome to PTO! I have started a new thread with your question in the Arkansas forum. Hopefully you'll get the answers you need.

Carmen:

I'm fairly new as well, but I can answer some of these questions for you. I live in CT with my fiance who was recently sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections, so we've had to get information on this same issue in order for him to come home.

You're brother will have to apply for "interstate compact for parole" 120 days prior to his parole date. If you go to the main page of this site (PTO), there is a thread called "Interstate Compact". Read through the entire thread and then feel free to ask questions if you don't get all your answers. There is good information on how the entire system works and what will be required to make it happen.

Additionally, Constituent Services at the ADC can probably provide information or direct you where to go. In case you don't have their number, it's (870) 267-6999.

I hope this helps. If you have trouble finding the thread I'm referring to, or if you need more detailed information, please feel free to private message me and I'll be happy to give you the information I have.

Yes, he can parole to Texas.
Cummins is pretty good. it had (and deserved) a horrible reputation for decades, but they've made improvements to balance it out.
