I have a question and this maybe a longshot. Many of you guys know of the new prison under construction that is scheduled for opening next year. My question is that Supermax will be closing soon so when it does could most inmates there be transferred there that were being held in Supermax? Any insight would be helpful!:confused:

The new Prison under Construction is in Cumberland Maryland. It will be called North Branch Correctional Institution. It will be right next to The Western Correctional Institution.
From all I have heard. Supermax will be closing and ALL inmates from Supermax will be transferred to North Branch.
NBCI will be a Maximum Security Facility. With 4 housing units by completion. It is supposed to be completed with in 2 years.

Yes, ALL Supermax inmates are to be transferred to NBCI in Cumberland, MD. Starting next year from all I have heard. NBCI (North Branch Correctional Institution) is right next to WCI.

I've also heard that they want to change the Annex from max to medium...so don't know if they will reclassify some at the Annex and keep some in Jessup and transfer some to the new max NBCI...anyone with insight into this?

thanks for the info. my guy is in the max and he's been told he will be transferred next year although he is under the assumption that he will be returning to Jessup i am not going to be the one to break this to him. THANKS AGAIN for the info

Well, We all know how DOC is...
Things could very well change between now and then but, that is the rumor, going around WCI for the past year or so.
I wouldn't say anything to him cause, they may change there minds.
But, really all I've heard about Supermax being in such dis-repair. I'd rather be at NBCI, a new facility than I would in someplace like that.
It is just really far up in the Mountains but, a beautiful drive to visit.

When is this supposed to happen. My fiance has been in Supermax since May of this year with the feds?

I heard that the new prison and WCI will be where all of MD's max security prisoners will be housed,minimum and medium security will be housed in Hagerstown,and Jessup.Is this whats going to happen??
