View Full Version : The Things People Will Steal...(semi-funny)
JoshsBabydoll 07-07-2005, 09:00 PM My Husband was recently transfered to Wateree C.I. He's been much happier here than in Krikland, however I got the funniest phone call from him around 8:30pm. He calls me saying, "You will never believe what just happened to me." This morning he applied to be transfered to a different ward for medical purposes; three hours later he recieves an order to gather his possesions, that he was being moved to a different ward. Upon returning to his bunk to gather up his belongings from his locker, he finds that a fellow inmate has stolen a few items from his locker. My husband is a generous man, if they had simply asked him for something he would have been more than happy to help them. Anyway, he finds 15 envelopes, a partially used tube of toothpaste, two bars of soap, a roll of deoderant, two white t-shirts, a pen or two, an unopened photo album, an unopened jar of peanut butter and a kit-kat bar missing. All of his personal letters and pictures I had mailed him were left alone. He wasn't really upset about the fact that he had been "jacked" but that his dear Kit-Kat bar was missing. :p Okay, sorry to take your time, but I thought some of you might find it funny. ;)
joshsmom221 07-07-2005, 11:41 PM Good grief! Maybe I'll find the funny in it later but right now I'm dismayed. What have our Josh's been sent into? My Josh would share also but I'm afraid if he was stolen from like this he would probably end up in solitary because he'd have been in a fight. I'm glad Josh was able to walk away and have a sense of humor about it. I fear my son would not. I'm also very glad to hear Josh was moved to a place where his medical needs may be addressed better. That's a big blessing. Besides, maybe he'll not be calling thieves roommates! I hope so. I am also glad for Josh that he is out of Kirkland.

melbo 07-08-2005, 12:05 AM That is truly a shame that someone did that to your husband! I did have to laugh though....I could only picture my husband being mad cause his Reeses were missing!
mrsford 07-08-2005, 12:12 AM With my husband, it would have been his Milky Way bar that would have upset him! And yes, it is a shame there is no honor with a person's possessions!
JoshsBabydoll 07-08-2005, 07:19 AM Yes, I agree with all of you, it is sad that people will steal from others; that there is such a lack of respect for others and their possesions. I still find it humorous to picture my hubby standing at a locker looking for his candy bar and it being M.I.A. :)
My hubby is by-far not a pushover, he's just slow to anger. He simply chooses to look at it as someone less fortunate than him getting the things they needed/wanted. It's pathetic that some men have to resort to stealing while they are incarcerated. Poor guy may not have had a family to send him money to buy the things he needed.
Slashley 07-08-2005, 08:12 AM FOr my boyfriend, it would have been his coffee! But he would definitely be in solitary, as someone else has said. It is very sad that these people will steal from each other. I mean, come on, they live in the same room! Do they not stop and think that this could bring problems?
joshsmom221 07-11-2005, 07:11 PM Joshsbabydoll, how is Josh doing now that he is settled down somewhat. Are you going to get to see him soon? I sure hope and pray so.
Sherrie
Jamiesheart 08-11-2005, 01:00 PM For Jamie it would definately be his coffee.
barky586 08-12-2005, 07:38 PM Joshsmom221, I don't believe my daughter, Joshsbabydoll has been on here for awhile, so I will answer for her. :) She sees him every Friday and every Saturday or Sunday (depending on which visiting day his last name falls under). She and Josh's mother and one other person sometimes (family member on his side) visit on Fridays and she and I and her father visit on Saturdays/Sundays. He is actually doing well to be in prison. Hope your son is too. :)
joshsmom221 08-12-2005, 11:18 PM Thank you, barky586. I am so happy that you all are getting to see Josh so often. And I'm so happy that Josh is getting this kind of super support. I still don't understand what happened to him and how unfair it was but at least everyday is putting it further behind him. A day will come that he doesn't owe any human one thing and he can go on with his life. I know you all will be thrilled when that day happens. My Josh is 2 1/2 hours away from me in Bennettsville at Evans. It is a horrible trip to get there and the place has been on lockdown since January. I have only seen him 1 time. I wish I were going to see him this weekend but Josh isn't to keen on those strip searches they do after a visit. We are learning the ins and outs of what to do and not to do and we will survive this ordeal. Just as you and your family will. God will give us the strength to do it.

Soulzy 08-12-2005, 11:31 PM Hmm ok this is odd that I'm here..I just got out of prison on the first of Aug..Sherrie was there to greet me..The items that were stolen from me was..A bottle of state shampoo(wtf are people thinking) state soap and a picture of my fiancee..Wtf..Do you have to steal when you come to prison as well?
Kahlan 08-13-2005, 09:44 AM Welcome Soulzy. I'm glad that you've joined us! I don't get the stealing in prison either and a picture of your fiance? That is just wrong! Since you've recently been in SCDC, you may be able to answer a lot of questions that we have. You will also receive great support from our members. Please post in the Member Introduction forum.
Mikesfemale 08-13-2005, 10:33 AM You all might as well know that Soulzy is my ex-con! :D And he never told me about the picture being stolen. It is sad because it was a horrible horrible picture of me. But he did get it back he said. I guess the other person only needed to borrow it for a minute! LOL (Laughing Out Loud)
SUSIE_SC 08-30-2005, 07:06 PM My son is also at Wateree. He says that you can only buy a few things at a time because of all the stealing, but when you have the taste for freedom, you have to overlook a lot of things that go on. If you retaliate(sp), it just means good time gone. He found that out the hard way. Things are different in a dorm, where he hopes to get back to in a couple of months, if he doesn't make parole in September. Everybody please put in a prayer for him on the parole issue. Thanks.....Susie
