Well Hes been there since June/04, But i didnt find out till last week, so i just wrote to him aug.3 and I havent heard from him. Ive been trying to get info on the place, but no ones been able to tell me anything yet. In other threads ive read lots of negative stuff bout robertson; they have lots of probs with gangs, but i dont really know anything myself.

Thanks a lot for that info. I found him he's at the Pam Lychner state jail. I still haven't been able to talk to him. He got a year in state jail, but they said he probably won't stay their. Hello, I think that I have already talked to you on another thread. My husband is also at the ROBERTSON UNIT and has been there for almost the past 6 years. The ROBERTSON UNIT was also called ROCKING ROBERTSON in the past due to all the gang related fights. It is not as bad anymore as people think it is. There are gangs in every prison. Prisons are not as bad today as they were years ago when they were like "OZ' and "ALCATRAZ". I just got back this weekend from a visit with my sons father, It went very good, and my son was so happy to have seen his father. Please let me know if there is any other information that you need from the ROBERTSON UNIT in ABILENE, TEXAS.:o

Hey!! yes I've been reading your responses. Thanks for all of them!! Oh and i saw your picture and you're a real beautiful woman!! Well I finally heard from him this week:) and hes in lockdown:(. I guess being who he is doesn't make him immune to gang fights.:( But I suppose its preferable he be in lockdown than out where he can get in more trouble and possibly jeopardize his possibilities of being released when hes supposed to. Hes only been there for about a year now, with 3 more to go. Now that Ive heard from him Im at ease and not as worried as I was. I'd like to go visit him, but I dont think itll be possible anytime soon. Abilene is 6 hours away from El Paso and Im afraid of getting lost!! :) I've been sending him tons of letters, so many that I dont even know what to write anymore because Im afraid of writing about something i wrote in another letter. :p Im happy your son had the chance to visit his father!! Choice Moore unit is in northeast Texas, just south of the Oklahoma line. Are you familiar with Sherman Texas or Gainsville, Texas? Bonham is east of these two cities or about 60 miles northeast of Dallas.

My son just transferred from there and he is much happier at the new place. Because choice Moore is a transfer facility they live dorm style with 45 to 50 in each dorm. All visits are contact visits (unless there is a specific reason for a non-contact visist) There are a few decent CO's, but from my experience they are the exception.

Who decides what units they are to go to? My head is spinning and I sure hope my son gets sent to one of the better ones. I noticed some of them get sent to one place one day and then another the next day or month. What is up with all this craziness. Who is running these prisons and why won't they just allow them to stay in one place serve their time and then send them back home. Don't we all wish it was that easy???? I have nothing yet to say on TDCJ because we have not gotten there yet but if you have any information to share so that we are more prepared would be highly appreciated!!

Are we allowed to visist them when they are transfered to an intake unit before they sre sent to a permanet location? I know intake location takes about two months before they get transfered again.

mine just got to lopez state jail yesterday don't no if this is permately move or he is on his way home. he was supose to be getting out july 13.06. why they move him we both don't no?

I don't know much about the Wynne Unit except that it is supposedly a laid back unit. I pass by there every time I visit my hubby on the Ellis Unit. I always see guys out walking the track or playing ball. When my husband graduated from college we went inside the Wynne Unit to the Chapel and the kitchen and it was nice. They have a band (inmates) and they are really good. Thats all I know. : )

They just transfered my son to Bridgeport. He doesn't really care for it but mainly because I have a hard time driving that far, My back can't take it. But it's air conditioned through out the prison as it is a privately owned prison.
He says they don't feed them enough, that I don't like. But he has just alittle more to go and he will be free! So he says he can take what ever they throw at him as he's finally coming home! May God Bless You all!

He has already came up for parole this past February and got denied... with a 2 year set-off... They do their in processing there before they may be transferred somewhere else.

My son was in Tulia Unit but recently was just transferred to huntsville. Don't know if that is the prison or just the town where the prisons are located. I received a letter from him saying he was going to Byrd unit. Either way can someone give me some information about Byrd unit. I read that huntsville, (the prison) is called the "walls" is this accurate. If so am I to assume that this is a transient place and he should be getting ready to come home or what. I need some serious help in figuring out what is happening etc. He comes up for parole review in Jan 08, but a MRS of OCt 09. So can someone give me some help on their experiences in these matters. thanks kate

The Walls is it's own unit in Huntsville and the oldest. Byrd is an intake/transfer facility, from what I've heard, but it is not the same as The Walls. The Walls is the Huntsville Unit (in Huntsville) so you are correct there. If he is on his way out he will go to The Walls to be released but I would think that would not happen until he is actually approved for parole or release under mandatory supervision.

You know what they say nothing is for free even a good proxy marriage. I am going to celebrate my proxy marriage by getting married again when my husband returns home in November we will need to pay for that license as well. The good news is that it isn't very much to pay for that license and moreover traveling to see my husband cost more than the proxy marriage did so looking at it that way biting the bullet twice and then spending the rest of my life with the man I would do anything for seems fair. I hope this was helpful I have 24 days before my honey is out and we begin our lives proxy marriage or new marriage we are married anyway... Yea! Good luck I have my wedding dress already picked out and having a portrait done as a wedding present for him! Something new, something old, I’ve covered all my bases.
I am happy although life hasn’t been easy and I'm ready for this to be over I am glad for new beginnings!!!!

Maybe this will help a couple of you- -Gurney and Middleton are "transfer units"- -when a person is going "into the system" (prison) they are sent to a transfer unit to be processed- -meaning classification, running background if they are gang related, actually having the "new inmates" get used to what it is going to be like to be in prison.
Most transfer units can keep these people up to two years before they are transferred to their "home farm"- -sometimes if the bigger units are over crowded they keep them there, sometimes, they could leave in three weeks- -understand? Do NOT worry about any of your love ones in these type of units, they are fine. They put these guys in the area of other guys the same size even- -just thought I would let a few know. Be safe.

My son is in humble texas at lychner state jail. He just got there from harris county jail. This is all new to me. I havent heard from him since he got there. Can anyone give me some info as to how long i have to wait to hear from him or how long i have to wait to put money in for him? I live in florida so it's hard for me.

My fiance is in the Goree Unit. They seem to be nice, if you can call guards nice after all the patting down and orders and looks that they give just because you are there to see an inmate.

I hope he comes home soon...

He was in Hughes Unit, 4/25/09. Now I have no ideal where he is located at? I looked yesterday and it said he was at Beto, and now its said telford? I don't know where he is going and when I will hear from him? Does anyone know how long it takes to tranfer an inmate? And how long will it be before I hear from him? And why would they move him when he only has 5 months till he is released? :confused:

My BF is in Rosharon in the Terrell Unit. He just got there from Teague, TX and I live in Houston so I am only 30-40 min away from him now.:D:D Yeah!!!

well he is at Telford now. And only 151 days till he comes home!!

It's a desert out there in the middle of no where. LOL
The guards are pretty nice. Most of the jobs are out in the hot sun. They do get a lot of Spiritial guidness!
