haha no not totally impossible, yes they are prohibited, but if it clicks you offf, you need to tell whoever is in jail that wants to 3-way to blow into the phone so the machine doesnt hear when the person presses flash...yes, they'll look retarded doing it, but they have to blow into where they talk hard enoguh so the jail receiver thing doesnt hear and keep blowing until they click back over, i just dont know if i can make it more simple, buy a calling card, tell him the # on it, and have him call that...but i dont know if its worth spending the money if it wont work!!!

I think the only way you can accept collect calls on your cell phone is if they are forwarded from you home phone. But they can buy calling cards from the store to use.

3-ways are prohibited in SOME places. I have a friend in chino who can 3-way me without blowing and it wont hang up, but i had a brother in L.A. county who hasss to blow (and it does work, but they have to blow hard enough) and the machines will dectect it and cut everyone off of the call. i was wondering, if i go to the market, buy a calling card, and then tell him the # on the calling card, and then he can call me directly to my cell with nobody having to 3-way him. i think that kreepsgirl may be right, but i was just wondering if anybody had tried this before

I Was reading on the prison calls online they can send the calls to your cell phone too, not just the home phone.

The reason behind three-way calls being prohibited is to protect people who do not wish to be contacted...and while I would love to have conference calls between him, a mutual friend and myself sometime in the future, I totally agree with this particular security measure....At the risk of shouting "FIRE" in a crowded theater....Some people in prison are not very nice, and some of those people will, given the chance, do things like make threatening calls to people who don't want to hear from them.... Think ex-spouses, victims, lawyers.....That's why I don't think a measure of control over who an inmate can call is a totally bad thing.
The solution that I think would please everyone (Except maybe the phone company holding the contract for the collect calls) would be single number calling cards, like the ones for college students to call home on....They're only good to call one number, and the account holder could sign a release stating that they know this card is to be used by the inmate,so there would be no security issue and a heck of a lot cheaper than collect calls.

My husband calls me collect to our house phone. It is on permanate call forwarding to my cell.
When he is up north he calls our northern california phone, and then when he is south, he calls the so. ca phone. The prices are reasonable.

I just signed up for a 1-800 number that forwards his calls to my cell phone. We haven't tried it yet, but I'll let you all know how it works. The price is $4.95 a month plus 5 cents a minute. So it's alot cheaper than most phone services.

When I called SBC about getting my land lined forworded to my cell phone I specifically asked if I could get collect calls off my cell phone and they told me no. Are all of you going through MCI is that why it's allowing you to connect to a collect call on your cell phones. I'm curious because I hate walking in the door seeing that I've got messages and hearing the operator on my machine, it breaks my heart knowing I missed his call. Thanks for the help.

I have SBC service and receive forwarded collect calls to my cell phone. You have to put the "call forwarding" service on your land line. It costs $5.00 a month. When you leave your house you dial *72 plus your cell phone number and wait for your cell phone to answer via voice mail or you can just answer it. (Bottom line is to make sure the connection is made to your cell phone.) Then hang up both phones and all calls that come to your land line are now forwarded to your cell phone. When you get home and want to switch the land phone back you dial *73. You can forward the calls to any number you want, not just the cell phone. Hope this clears up your question. Sometimes SBC doesn't understand our questions. Only takes a few minutes to request the call forwarding service and it is activated within hours of ordering it.

PCO maybe able to help you....I have PCO and they forward the calls to my cell phone.

You Can't buy a calling card and send it to him, he has to get them at the store, they cost ten dolars and they gibe you like 52 minutes for local calls, he can call you to your cell with no problem. but he has to get the calling card there.

I'm intrigued by the 800 number. Has anyone verified that an inmate can call an 800 number? This would be a tremendous money saver. Can someone give me some more info if you've tried it and it worked or not?

Inmates at CDC facilities cannot call 800 numbers, nor are they permitted calling cards.

there is a 800 number you can call and i think its like 30 dollars and you can add money to your cell phone and its like a prepaid plan and once the money runs out the calls quit until you put more money on there i have my phone where my man calls my cell phone with the prepaid plan

if you have at&t at home and an at&t cell you can recive collect calls on your cell. call att and ask them for the collect calls from jail number and then you call and set it up.;)
