My brother was sent to Folsom State Prison approx 8 weeks ago and has finally contacted me to give me his address and to let me know that he's being parolled in early August. Here's my questions:
The prison address is in Repesa, CA, is this the old or new Folsom, or are they one in the same and are sometimes referred to as old or new Folsom?
He said his time was short in Folsom since he has zero new charges and was only in for a violation of paroll. Is this accurate information they told him??
(I thought parollee violators, in my location - Central CA, were kept in Traci's DVI facility??)
MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION:
I just recd a letter from him that said he isn't entitled to receive the $200 "Gate Money" when he leaves since he doesn't have new charges added other than the violation and hopes he has enough money accumulated from his current prison job ($1.10 per day) to purchase a bus ticket to make it home. He says he won't mind hitch-hiking if it isn't too far. Doesn't every inmate have entitlement to "Gate Money"? They won't provide him a one-way bus ticket as I've been told by some sources I checked with? I'm getting way too many different answers and the prison phone number puts me on hold for 40 min or more and won't ever take me off hold to help. CAN SOMEONE WITH ANY KNOWLEDGE OR PAST SIMILAR EXPERIENCE TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW? Thanks!
