When visiting someone on death row, how does the visitation process work? Do cars line up outside the prison, or do people line up somewhere else? I will be traveling from about 600 miles away and wondered what time the line starts, where, the process, etc. Thanks!:hmm:

Jacob, first of all welcome to PTO! I used to visit there and it was always enjoyable. Once you sign in you wait outside until a staff member comes and calls out the inmate's name. Then everyone who is visiting that inmate goes in. Since there is limited seating - on a first come, first served basis, be sure to get there by 7AM. There is some helpful information on FDRAG's website, www.fdrag.org click on "Information Package" then read both "Visitation Rules" and "Unwritten Visitation Rules". They have have driving directions as well as motel information posted there.
Also, for death row their visit days are either Saturday or Sunday. The friend I visited could only have visits on Saturday. But there is a policy whereby visitors coming from far away can have a two-day visit. (If your friend's day is Saturday, you get Friday & Saturday. If his day is Sunday, you get Sunday & Monday.) Someone else here may know more about that. Or else you can call the facility and ask about that. I hope this helps.

 Hello and welcome to the PTO family! You may want to check-out Union CI in the Florida Prison Profiles sub-forum. There's info there as to what to expect when visiting UCI, including DR. You may also want to become familiar with the FL DOC Rules (this includes everything) at:

Hope this helps.
