I have a pen friend in Burkesville. I don't know the full name of that prison he is at? I'm guessing N-something Correctional Complex? Anybody have loved ones in there too or just information from a personal point of view? I'd like to know..

Pretty sure this is the prison you are talking about:

Nottoway Correctional Center
A. David Robinson, Warden
Route 650
P. O. Box 488
Burkeville, VA 23922
(434) 767-5543

I am sure someone will come along soon to tell you about personal experiences.

I visited my man there for 4 years. He just transfered out to James River. What do you need to Know about Nottaway? For the Most part they are Not to bad on Vists as long as it isnt the 1st weekend of the mont. It is alwaays crowed then, and the Co's get really antsy then. They can be a bit picky about clothes, so as usuaal carry an extra set in the car with you just in case :) If you are traveling from out of town I know a cheap hotel near by :) Let me know what you need to know about it :) My man said the food there sucks :P

I've got a really good friend who is still in Nottoway. My husband was released from there this year in Feb. It's not bad. My mother used to work there for 10 years so I know most of the people who work there. But I agree...make sure to bring extra clothes. I've seen it many times where they will allow one person in with something similiar to what your wearing and they'll make you leave and change. There is a hotel that is right down the highway 460 about 5 mins away either way lol. You have westons and comfort inn. I'd suggest the comfort Inn. It's always uncomfortable going in there, but once they see you more than 5 times you'll adjust very easily and they almost become family. As sad as that may seem, its just the life we have to live for now. Good luck!

I have visited at NCC. The inmate's day is either Saturday or Sunday. They are VERY strict (read picky) about dress code. Nothing but post earrings, watch, 2 rings and necklace if it is a cross or religious medallion. They make people wait outside and seem to process at the pace they choose. I would be very conservative in dress,,,nothing showy and bring extra clothes to change if needed. Best bet is jeans and a shirt that in no possible way can be seen through. Inside..they have typical snack machines and pics can be taken. The men have to get picture tickets. I haven't been there much, but the process has never been very friendly.
Hope this helps.
