Ok I have a bunch of questions...since it is after hours here I cannot get any info from anyone at the county jail..so I am askin you all:
Stephen was sent up today and I need to know how things go:
How long will he be in diagnostics? When can I find out where he is? can I write him in diagnostics? Will he be able to write to me?How soon can we visit him? If he had hardly no money when he was sent up how soon can I send some and how do I go about doing it?
He is in the Texas system..(yuck)...any info you guys have would be great!

There is no way to know how long he will be in diagnostics. Maybe a few weeks...maybe a few months...some transfer units can hold them for 2 yrs, but they rarely do. You should call TDC first thing in the morning. They will tell you where he is and give you his TDC number. You'll need to tell them his birthday and date of transport. You can write him as soon as you have that number and know where he is. You can get the unit address from the TDC website. Expect a letter from him soon. You can visit as soon as he gets a visitation list done and it is processed. He has to list addresses on the list, and that address has to be the address that is on your drivers licence!! Be sure he has the exact address that is on the drivers licenses of the people he wants on his list...he can only have 10 people on his list. Contact visits won't happen for 90 days. Once you have his number you can send him money...but you have to send TDC deposit slips with the money order. If you need some, I'll get some this weekend and mail them to you. Just let me know! Also, get the money orders from the post office...they are processed faster than ones from convenience stores!! He should be able to make store pretty quick. He'll need to buy socks and boxers and t-shirts...hygiene stuff..etc. That stuff is expensive...like $6 for 2 t-shirst...I think....but food is cheap! If I left anything out let me know. I'll help you all I can, I am new to the process too. Monty caught chain on 4/26/02 and is still at the transfer unit. Let me know if you want some deposit slips.

Definetly would love some deposit slips- would make things go alot quicker right? also you said No contact visits for 90 days--can they have any visits in that 90 days? and one more :D : was he able to bring anything with him from county-socks, t-shirts, stamps, radio etc...? You have no idea how I appreciate your help!! Thank you-you are an angel! Oh! one more-what if he happens to put the wrong address on his list (my license lists our physical address and I dont know if he knows that is what is on there)can he change it and how soon? are they allowed to call at all? and will he be allowed any type of visit while in the transfer unit? even if they stay there for a long period of time..and is there ANY way to try and get him placed as close to home as possible(yeah right-I know!).....I am sorry I have so many questions but I seem to get the best answers here than from anyone from the TDC.....thank you..let me know what I need to do for you to send me some slips-I 'll send you some stamps whatever and do we have to pay for em?Thanks again
(boy I really rambled off huh?)

You can definitely go visit him as soon as his list is processed. The address he lists HAS to match the one on your drivers license or you will not be allowed in! He can go ahead and turn in his list and get it processed, but you need to get the correct address to him ASAP so he can put in a change of address form! You will not be allowed to visit until the addresses match!!! The visits will be general...through glass like at county. He was only allowed to take what he had on. He'll have to buy socks, undies, tshirts....everything! So he needs some money on the books...he should be able to make store pretty fast...like within the first week. Depends on the county as to whether he got to take photographs, old letters, and how many envelopes he got to take. There are NO phone calls! that part really sucks when you are use to talking to them everyday! As far as I know...they do not consider location of the family at all in placing him in a facility. The biggest deal at this point is making sure he has or gets the address that is on your drivers license!!!! Have you gotten his number and location yet?? Just email me your address and I'll send you some deposit slips. You get them free at the check in desk at visitation! I am going to see Monty on Saturday, so I can get them in the mail to you late that evening. Monty is 3 hours from me. Just let me know if you need anything, girl! I'll do everything I can for you. I'll answer all your questions if I can!! Hey just some good news on my end...I got mine and Montys marriage license today...so hopefully next week I'll be a married woman! anyways, email me your address!! Let me know where he is...maybe I can get some inside info for you...I know a few people in the system!!
