NAMPA -- The Nampa police department raided the wrong duplex Wednesday.

Officers on a drug bust threw a powerful noisemaking device through the unit's window, then stood outside with their guns drawn.

The resident, John Simpson, was convinced he was under attack.

He says he hit the floor of his home, and took his wife down with him.

Then, he ran out of the apartment with a vacuum hose to defend himself.

Nampa police explain the flub this way: One of their officers just got the wrong window.

They say they've fixed the broken glass.

What's more, they arrested Simpson's neighbor, a 20-year-old whom they plan to charge with possession of four ounces of marijuana.

I dont normally post about actual crimes and while I think most people in prison or jail really are guilty and deserve to be there I think this shows how the system isnt perfect and innocent people can become victims.

In this situation nothing more then this family being traumatized happened, but the wrong person could have been easily shot at or arrested and hauled to jail because of wrong information.

I know that millions of offenders say they arent guilty of something and they really are, but it really makes you wonder how many really arent.

This only shows that we don't live in the perfect world we would love to have. It's sad that this man and his family had to go through this, but we ALL make mistakes. Thank you for posting...Tanya, this was interesting reading first thing this morning here at work. :-)
