Does anyone know how to fix rear brakes on a ten speed???
When i use the hand part it wont budge..... meaning i am unable to squeeze it to the handle...
I dont know if this makes any sense...... Im just trying to get the bike to work properly....

Flamered - 2 things come to mind. Cable and calipers. Go to your bike and squeeze the brakes around the tire. If you can't, then your calipers are rusted or overtightened. Otherwise it's probably the cable. If it got water in it sometime, then it's rusted and won't slide smoothly through the housing. You have to replace the cable if a whole bunch of lubricant sprayed into it won't free it up. and try the lubricant on the calipers, too. You may be able to take the calipers apart and sand them - use some 000 steel wool, and then apply lubricant to keep rust from coming back.
Also, it's marginally possible that the handle itself is rusted, so that could be sanded and sprayed to free it up.

R is a mechanic so we must have some type of automotive lube around his house somewhere.... :D :D :D :D
