Altus (AP) - An Altus city employee has been fired for alleged improper contact with female state inmates on a work crew.

Cemetery worker Loyd Lenard was fired Wednesday. Police Chief Mike Patterson says Lenard hasn't been charged.

Police have questioned about two dozen people, including several inmates scattered across the state prison system.

Jackson County prosecutors charged Tommy Ray Sanchez, a public works program supervisor, with soliciting lewdness.

He's accused of having two female inmates on a work crew expose their breasts to him on two occasions. Patterson says one of those incidents took place at Sanchez's house.

Police also suspect the 40-year-old Sanchez of having sexual affairs with inmates.

Altus is home to a state Corrections Department work center for women.
