I (http://I) hope this is were I post this, if not please move.

A prisoner's words:

"CONVICT"

Beneath attention,
outcast, unclean
my voice is unheard,
I am unseen.

Societal misfit,
I've been condemned to live a leper's life.
It's as if I am contagious,
the forerunner of death and strife.

Style, manner, the very way I walk and talk;
I am not allowed to change.
Beneath society's forced geniality
though the words may differ
the voices all say the same. . .

"Convict!, Criminal!,
A felon of the first degree-"

One day I may get out of prison,
but will I ever be free?

I read your words how they are so true.

But in God's eyes, he loves you so when you ask for forgiveness your are no longer who you thought you were. You are born again............

This is well written and so sadly true. What ARE ex-inmates supposed to do in the 'free' world? No wonder so many of them go back again and again ..

you have to be free on the inside before you will ever be free.
