Hi Lill'magic

No, you cant send them anything like that. You can order them books from Amazon, barnes and noble, etc, stationary from places like office max, but you cant order them any art material.
If he has money on his books, he can order those things from commisary though, like art boards, water paints, etc.

Thanx Kyla! I once send him tracing paper from Dick Blick I think it was, Blick is an art material suply shop and you can order online. He was allowed to have the tracing paper so he might be able to receive other stuff from there. Guess it can't have any iron on it and stuff. But where to they draw the line?? Prison rules are so hard to understand since they often don't make sence at all.
I might just as well try it out, I'll keep you guys posted;)

Hey! From what I understand from my friend on DR at Polunsky, they can't even purchase art supplies from commisary. I think he said they're allowed to buy map pencils, but that's it.

And I agree with you -- the prison rules are hard to understand sometimes. What seems totally harmless to us is like a major NO-NO to them!

I just don't understand why if they were allowed to have the art supplies while they were at Ellis, why they can't have them now! ::sigh:: Such are the joys of dealing with TDC!

Hi,

Unfortunatly you cannot send supplies to him, Hoiwever, from what my buddy at Polunsky says that the Vendor you buy it from can send it to him. try to get the folks at someplace like "Walk-Mart" to send it for you.

Good luck, Or, you can order it online and use his address at Polunsky as the shipping address.

I never know what to expect when sending anything other than a letter or a greeting card....sometimes I think it depends on the mood in the mail room that day. I once sent a group of postcards (nature scenes from my home area) only to have all but one I'd written a brief note on the back of confiscated. On another occasion, a bundle of letters a card, and some photos were returned to me with a big red "CONTRABAND" stamped on the envelope which made no sense to me. I'd put a return address sticker on the first page of the letter--someone thought that might be the problem so removed the sticker and sent everything else just as it had been. And it was delivered. Go figure.

Of late, she has sent me several letters with stickers of various sorts on them, but I don't think I can reciprocate.

Just a follow-up to the last post--I sent my friend a letter at about the same time I put the post up. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I put a couple of small heart stickers on one page. You guessed it--it never reached her.

My best guess is that this sort of ridiculous regulation is intended to keep people from covertly sending drugs into prisons, but these stickers were about 1/4" in diameter and my friend is no drug user. C'mon, get real, people.
