Hi i am just lost , my fiance is currently incarcerated doing 7 years , he was on probation for 2 years caught a new charge got probation revoked and 5 years for new charge even though the judge went against the d/a's recomendation of only 6 months because of lack of evenidence/ we've already done 1 year and 1 month so far he has this on appeal to try to get it to run consecutive not concurrent what does this mean ? Can he get out sooner than 6 yrs? I live in wisconsin and we also have the truth in sentencing law..... can anyone help?

Concurrent means he'd serve the 2 years and 5 years together - and get out in 5 years. Consecutive means the sentences are just that - consecutive - and he'd serve 7 years.
It's up to the judge to make that determination. Good luck in the appeal - which could take a long time! Appeals courts are super slow.
