I know the ADC won't accept shipments of reading materials unless it's from a business, school, or charity. I have searched and serached and found a company that can get me 4 used books shipped to my loved ones for around 11.00. What would be even better is if I could go to Goodwill and buy a ton of books for .50 each and mail them. I've been told you can get an envelope with postage and take it to Goodwill with you and they will stamp their name on the return address for you. Has anyone done this? Also, does anyone on here work for a bookstore, school or charity and have access to inexpensive books? I know how much my loved one enjoys reading...he has covered just about every book in the prison library. Just curious!

amazon.com I just clicked on the new & used, I bought 2 new hardback books. And had them both sent to the prison for under $9.

Can you send Used books from amazon directly to the prison? Many of those used books will arrive with the return address of an individual - and that individual will not be on his approved visitor list.
I'd thought about ordering the used books but decided not to because of the fact that the prison might not accept it and would return it to sender - causing lots of confusion.
Please PM me about this. Thanks.

I have sent new books from Amazon, but never used since I know it will be coming from an individual. I don't want to chance losing money that way!

I've had used books sent to the prison from Amazon and even Ebay. As long as an invoice (or paid invoice) accompanies them, they're ok. (I asked)

Thanks for the info on used books. I think I'll call the mail room and ask them if ok to send used books. That sure would save a lot of money because he loves to read and wants new books all the time.
