Oh.....and yes, I do get poems also!
MrsBenji 06-05-2005, 12:22 PM You might try Western Union. www.westernunion.com
You should be able to purchase money orders in american dollars at most offices, including those in the UK.
Hopefully, someone else who knows a bit more will be along shortly to help.
GOod luck!
And WELCOME to PTO!!!

Silva 06-06-2005, 12:44 AM Hi and welcome to PTO!
You can send your hubby money through J-pay, its much cheaper than Western union, all you need is a paypal account. Where is your hubby located?
:)
Starchild 06-06-2005, 05:37 AM Hi Angel and welcome
I send money by calling Quick Pay - Western Union. The # is: 0800 833833. The money goes straight into their account. Which state is he in? I have only ever sent it to Florida, but have sent cheques and postal orders to other states.
PM me if I can help more.
Rostonhall 06-06-2005, 07:38 AM Hi Angel, and welcome. As littletoomean says you may be able to send money via Western Union Quick Pay, I use it all the time to transfer money to my husband in Illinios, and it's in his account within 48 hours. As for money orders, unless you know someone who is going to the US soon, or belong to one of the organisations who befriend those on Death Row, then I'm afraid it's impossible to get them in the UK.
Not all DOC accept paypal. Illinois has only three ways to get money to inmates from the UK US Money orders or Western Union Ouick Pay or a Bankers Draft drawn in US Dollars, but this last method is very expensive.
If you need any help pm me and I'll be only to happy to pass on anything I know.

gigi v 06-07-2005, 01:02 PM No It Wont Work, Have Your Hubby Send You The Paper Work From The Prison He Is In And It Tells You Where To Send It To, The Prisoners Are Not Allowed To Get Money Orders They Are Sent Somewhere Else.you Should Post In The Colorado Forum . They Will Be Able To Answer Your Questions On How To Send Money To Your Hubby
suzee 06-07-2005, 01:04 PM Hi If You Need To Get A Money Order To Your Hubby You Can Get Them From A Building Society Here In The Uk But I Use Halifax They Charged Me £5.00 Thats As Long As The Amount Is Under £50.00 I Think It May Be Called An International Transfer Cheque They Can Mail It To Your House Or You Can Pick It Up From The Branch A Day Or So Later Plz Dont Send Cash It May Not Get To Him, This Is The Way I Send Money To My Guy In Cali Pm Me If You Need Any Help Or A Chat Xx Suzee
Rostonhall 06-08-2005, 01:41 AM Don't send a UK postal order, it will be of no use at all, and certainly don't send cash!! You can get the International Transfer Cheques (Bankers Draft) from any Building Society or bank but the charge is pretty high. As others have said, you may not be able to send the funds direct. In Illinois we just include any money orders with our normal letters and the money is taken out before it gets to the inmate. The prison then notifies them that the amount is being added to their account.
It's a shame you can't use Western Union, it's so quick and reliable.

I have sent money orders to friends overseas through the bank, like maybe Barclays ? What they do is make out, it looks like a cheque, with the recipients name on it in US Dollars and then you can post it. Most banks should be able to help you like that...Hope that helps.
sharonno1 06-10-2005, 03:17 AM hi and welcome to pto i can help you with the money order you need to go to a bank or building soc where u have a account u can get a money order from there u have to order it it can take 2-3 days it comes like a cheque they do charge u last time they charged me 10 pounds then u write his name and prison number on the money order and send it to him with a letter the bank or bulding soc will work it out in dollars for u hope this help you
Rostonhall 06-10-2005, 07:56 AM Sorry, Sharonno, that's an International Bank Cheque or Bank Draft, not a money order. The US money orders are an entirely different thing.

iluvlambchop 06-10-2005, 12:03 PM Angel, hi there
I'm from the UK too but live Stateside and my b/f is locked up in CA. You might wanna email the BOP before you proceed with any of these great ideas coz they're so bloody anal I'd hate to see you send money and have it rejected.
Cheers and best wishes
