David, from Florida, who I'm corresponding with, asked me to look on
the web for some University/Colleges that offer correspondence
education to inmates for free. Does anyone know any institutions that
do this? Especially in Florida since I'd expect they're more likely
to do it for residents of the same state.
I'd appreciate any information on this subject and I'm sure David
would be too!

i havent heard of anything like that unless you are talking about pen pal sites.

I think I can guess, but I gotta ask ...
If the inmate (like my penpal) is in a state (FL) prison where they offer GED and a few less useful occupational courses like fashion design but not auto tronics, auto tronics is her desire and aptitude, and the auto tronics is offered in a different prison by the same DoC, then is the inmate s-outa-luck getting any auto tronics course?

It sounds like it to me! But, to get into anything at all is a Blessing! Sometimes in CA my son will apply for something and it will come back as NC which is Nothing Coming! Try posting this in the Florida Forum!

My son is in Florida and he is taking correspondence courses at Pensicola Junior College. The U of So. Colorado works with prison inmates. Empire State in NY and Thomas Edison in NJ have excellent correspondence programs. I am sure your State has colleges that offers them because if you do it from another State you have to pay out of state tuition.
All I did was type "correspondence college courses and I got many colleges that offer them.

IF you hear of anything that is free please let me know. I know Pensicola Junior College has a correspondence program for inmates but I think you have to pay.

My son in Fl. institution just told me all education, except for Basic Skills has been cancelled in Florida.
