What does this mean exactly? No mail and calls?
I hadn't heard from my friend in about a week which is odd since I have been getting one to two letters a day and neither had his Mom so she called today and they said he is in lock down for fighting!
What happend to all the mail I have sent? Will he get it when he gets off lock down? Is he able to send mail while on??????

I'm not sure but when my son was in P.B. He could never make phone calls but he could always write.He was in the SHU so he was always on lock down so to speak.

Imarie, I'm not sure about the particulars on what is happening at Pelican Bay, but I just had to post, because the conditions at Pelcian Bay sicken me anyway. Just HOW much more of a lock-down or restrictive can they be?

Hi Imarie, I have not heard anything about a lock down at the Bay. Your friend must be on the main yard my son is in the SHU that means locked down all the time. Lock down means they put you in a cell by yourself and take away all your privileges, phone, canteen, mail what ever they want to take away. I got a letter from my son yesterday and I know if anything bad was going on in the whole prison he would tell me. They had a riot there a couple of years ago and I went nuts until I heard from him. Check the net and see if there is some news I have missed. Love Barbara

Thanks BSS It isn't the whole jail just him from what I understand,got in trouble for a fight.I was just wondering if that did mean no mail incoming or outgoing for him and would my mail reach him eventually after he is out of lock down.

Yes he will get the mail I am sure. He can probably write too but they will slow play his mail. Do we have his birth date? If not just PM me his info and I will put him on the birthday list. If you already have sent it to me don't worry I have been taking a lot of pain killers this week LOL and I am kind of out of it. Love Barbara

Got my first letter today from the "hole'" FINALLY! He's doing ok but has been bumped from Level 1 to a level 4 and has to go before the "commitee" to determine what actions will be taken I guess.My next letter should tell me the news I believe he was to see them yesterday.

Hi Imarie, if it is just a fight that he got into he will probably get a short term in the SHU maybe 6 months to a year. It will mean no phone calls and visiting through glass only. Your friend needs to learn that in this prison you can not break the rules because the punishment is very severe. Please let us know what you find out. Another letter today,seems he got 90 days but I believe he has to go back before the commitee again.Couldn't really understand what he wrote LOL His writing isn't the best! He is is high spirits,his letter made me laugh and grin so thats good at least!

Hi BSS yes His Mother and I are planning on going in August sometime,looks like we will miss each other by a month! I will PM you with his bday info,I just wanted to ask him if he minded if I posted it beforehand,I'm sure he won't so as soon as I hear back I will let you know.

No Imarie they take no pictures in the SHU. Your visiting is through glass and you can't take anything in with you. Do you have your visiting papers yet? Love Barbara

Dang it! I got new pictures I wanted him to see! I guess we are lucky they even get there mail huh? Poor guys
I don't have my visiting papers yet,he said he doesn't want us (his Mom and I ) to come until he is back in the gym IF he does get to go back.I now it takes awhile to get the papers approved so I told him just to send them anyways so we can at least get them taken care of then worry about where he is when we come up this summer.

Oh you want to take pictures in with you, YES. You can take 10 pictures in with you I am sorry I didn't understand. I think you need visiting paper even for the general pop. You need to get them a couple of months before you want to go because they can slow play you on them. Love Barbara
