In Yahoo Groups there is one called Freecycle. They are located in many cities. The idea is to keep stuff out of the dump. People post stuff they do not want or need anymore and it can be good stuff. Furnature, televisions, left over building supplies, household stuff, etc. You can also post "wants".
Today a woman was looking for bath oil. I had 2 - 24 oz bottles of SKIN-SO- SOFT in the closet which I do not use. She is going to come pick it up.
For me it has been a god send along with PTO as I am prepairing for my vacation.

i love this site cause it works for both people one if you need to just get rid of somethings and don't feel like hauling it to the junk and if you need something its always better to get it for free

I have given away so much stuff, enough to fill up a whole room. And I got a few decent things, like a paper shredder and even a frozen turkey.
As an avid freecycler usually giving stuff away, it can be a bit tiring after a while, because there's a lot of email, then people don't show up, then sometimes two people show up for the same item because one of them didn't confirm they're coming and both just showed up.
Then there's the people who were no-shows that continue asking for stuff, and the people who came 5 or 6 times and keep asking for more. (Don't they ever put out a cent for anything?)
I'll be freecycling again soon, but it may be obvious I need a rest from it.
