A prison healthcare company from Saint Louis has beaten out the existing provider of medical care for Idaho Department of Correction prisoners.
Correctional Medical Services will take over duties at all Idaho prisons July 11.
It offered to provide inmates with medical and dental care for $9.75 per day per prisoner.
Teresa Jones, a DOC spokeswoman, says that was less than the bid of Tennessee-based Prison Health Services.
Idaho has roughly 6,400 prisoners across the state.
