Hi everyone,

This weekend will be my first visit to Mule Creek. I am bringing my 3 kids. I wanted any first hand information that would be helpful to me. I'm sure any input will be useful. I did get a visiting guidelines packet off the internet, but I am looking more for first hand experience. I'm wondering about diaper bags (do they really have to be clear, if so where the hell do you get a clear diaper bag), do the packages of wipes HAVE to be brand new, strollers allowed?, what rules do they really follow, is 60 bucks enough for our family to eat. Anything else you can think of.
thanks so much

I don't have kids, but I've waited in line watching long enough!!

Yes, they mean clear. Use a small trash bag, if you can't find a clear grocery bag. This time of year you can get beach bags at Walmart or Kmart. Can be clear green or pink or whatever I'm pretty sure.

NO STROLLER. Nope, no way to clear the metal detector and no way to search all the tubing it's made of.

Baby wipe, like Kleenex, has to be unopened so they are sure you didn't hide anything between the layers.

Dont know how old your kids are, or how much your man eats. The two of us are ok with $30, and that includes $4 for pictures. The food is SO nasty, you won't want to eat much of it anyway. The fact that the inmates inhale it just shows how crappy their usual food is.

Watch your clothes, even the little ones.
DO NOT FORGET certified copies of everyones birth certificate. They will cut no slack, expired CDL as well.

Check everyones pockets. I just read a heartbreaking story about a little girl who made cookies the night before and wanted to give one to her Daddy. Mommy didn't even know she had it. Terminated their first contact visit before she even got to hug him, and traumatized the little girl something awful.

I'd be safe and follow ALL the rules. This place is known for having staff that will let almost anything happen and ones who will pull your visits for almost nothing. You never know who's working, or who's watching.

You said you are going to visit on Sunday so I would say you should plan on getting there about 6:30am to 7:00am. That way you will be one of the first ones in and you and your kids will be able to wait in the car rather than stand in line.

When you pull into the parking lot just get out of your car and ask the other visitors who you came in after. Everyone is really nice and they will tell you. Then you can sit in your car until about 7:45am. When everyone starts to form a line just follow and get into place behind who ever you came in after.

At 8am the line will move up to the building that processes the visitors. They don't open up the building until 8:30 or more like 8:35 but when they do they will hand you a small form to fill out and that will have your number on it. Just fill it out and wait for your number to be called.

Most of the people there will be more than happy to answer all of your questions that come up while you are waiting. Then you will leave the front building and go back to his yard building. Everything is labeled and the CO's or other visitors will tell you where to go. Once you enter his building yet another CO will sign you in and call your husband up. After you see them they will send you to the front of the visiting room where yet another CO will assign you a table. You just sit at the table number that you were assigned and wait. If he's ready than he should be up in 10 or 15 minutes.

You can hug and kiss him I didn't ever see anyone have anything said to them. I just wouldn't go crazy but you can hug longer than 5 seconds like the CDC says. Then just try to relax and enjoy your visit.

You can take $30 for you and $10 for each child. Take in $1's or quarters. This will be more than enough money for food. I would watch the visiting room and as it starts to fill I would buy the food you want then before it sells out. Sundays aren't nearly as busy as Saturdays so hopefully your visit won't be terminated.

As for a clear diaper bag..... If you don't have a clear bag that will hold everything you should be able to use a plastic bag from the grocery store, I saw one mother using that. As for the stroller I'm not sure someone hopefully will post in your thread but I would still call the prison just to be on the safe side.

Also be sure you follow the visiting guidelines for cloths and don't forget... NO under wire bras!

Let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you other wise have a super visit!!!!

I visit in Mule Creek....My kids are not babies so I'm not sure about the strollers, but I have seen them be let in....I think you have to get a note from the doctor (that's what I heard)....who knows....I'd call the prison and talk to someone in visitor processing....Good Luck
