I really need to know how long an appeal can take. I hate not knowing when he's coming home. Not knowing if it's going to be in September of this year or if he's getting out in September of 2023. The appeal was sent in, we got the answer brief, then we sent in the reply brief to that, now they have 4 to 12 months to have an answer or to see if the case is overturned or if they come at him with a plea bargain. I'm going crazy not knowing this. He was originally sentenced to 25 years, he's done 3 already. Has anyone been in this situation that can help me with this???? Do they usually respond in the four months or do they take their sweet a*s time with this too and wait the full year to respond. I miss my baby:(

It, sadly, takes as long as it takes....it depends on current case loads, the schedules of the assorted lawyers, the priority of the case (how that's established, I do not know) and the complexity of the appellate issues being examined....along with the fickle finger of fate. Hang in there, Darlin'... sometimes it's a good sign when it takes some time as saying "Yes" usually takes longer than saying "no".
All my best.
(BTW, I'm in the same spot, waiting....we just got word that the initial Order to Show Cause and the Order for Transcript & Clerk's File are on calender for next month... you're miles ahead of me!)

What vexes me the most is that all these assorted pencil pushers make it so bloody hard to get any information! WTF! This is nothing to them, but to those of us who love someone caught in this spiderweb, it's extremely important, and I just wish some of these people would realize that.
