View Full Version : Intro--bookgirl from North Carolina
bookgirl 05-06-2002, 05:07 PM Hi Everyone,
I just discovered this site a couple of days ago, and I can't figure out how I've missed it for so long. It looks like a great place to hang out.
My husband, The Yankee, is in his 16th year of a life sentence here in N.C., the lock 'em up capital of the free world. Of course, my husband is the only person I've ever met in prison who actually admits he's guilty, so I suppose they ought to let him go before he corrupts all those innocent men around him! :haha: (It's too bad the Parole Board doesn't share my sentiments in this matter.)
We've been married for over 7 years. Yes, I do remember way back  when I used to think women who married men in prison were a few french fries short of a happy meal, but falling in love with The Yankee changed my mind about that!
I look forward to getting to know all of you as we journey through the challenges of being married to someone who is incarcerated.
Joy to you! See you in the Husbands & Boyfriends Forum!

Hi Bookgirl
Welcome!
Kate
bookgirl 05-07-2002, 10:19 PM BRay,
I've never heard of a Southern Yankee. If you're a Southerner who moves North & stays there, you're a "Displaced Southerner." If you're a Northerner who moves South & stays there, you're a "Damn Yankee."
Since you're claiming to live in CA, I don't know what kind of critter you are. Some sort of CA mixed breed, I suppose. That's all right; you can be my friend, anyway.
At any rate, The Yankee sends his regards and said to thank you for giving me grief over the item on my top ten list that referred to the toilet seat. He said he's glad somebody's around to keep me in line when I'm online. :)
Yes, we women do need something to gripe about. It's genetic - just like the way you men always stick together!
B-Ray 05-07-2002, 10:45 PM Well I must admit, I ain't Southern unless one can call being a through back from a few generations ago.
The Southern handle was given by two SoutherBells from Jaw-ja some 5 yrs ago online by using first and middle name. They were bent in making a Yankee a rightful person! LOL
I've had fun with ever since!! And yes I am a native of .....Cal-lee-forn-ya :D
soraya 05-08-2002, 04:01 AM Welcome bookgirl....sorry for this late reply!
love muffin 05-08-2002, 09:00 AM Hello from another North Carolinian,
Welcome to PTO. I have a Fiancee who is incarcerated in the NCDOC. Do you mind me asking which prison facility Yankee is in? My sweetheart is in Lincolnton.
Daveswife 05-08-2002, 03:02 PM Hi Bookgirl,
Welcome to PTO. It's great to see you still have a sense of humor after so long. It's encouraging.
